Question about GE Ovens

Open Question

Fluctuating temperature in GE double wall oven. Temperature will rise to oven setting and then fluctuates above and below the setting by approximately 50 degrees F. Upper thermostat was replaced several years ago. Lower thermostat is original. Problem more prominant (degrees fluctuation) in upper oven but is persistent in both. Ovens have never been calibrated after installation (to my knowledge).

I haven't solved the problem because when I logged into your site using the user ID and PW you provided, there was no link to the question I posed or responses, if any. Thus, one of two things ... I need guidance from you on how to find the question and possible responses or you run a sham site designed to get people to subscribe to your premium support service. I am computer literate ... thus, I'm puzzled and wonder about your site; if it is a sham, I'll be more than happy to report it to appropriate Federal agencies. Please advise. No response will be considered confirmation. R, Schroeder

SOURCE: Oven temperature

you guys should check your tempurature sensor. Our oven has been acting weird like saying it has heated up to 400 degrees in like 1 minute haha. Well after a few months of this happening on occasion we get an F2 error flashing..

did some research on it and apparently for GE ovens this is a temp sensor gone bad. Im looking to buy one now which is how i found this post, i just thought id tell you all what i found out and maybe you should look into that as well.

SOURCE: creda oven

you might have already thought of this, buy an oven thermometer you can pop in the oven.
I bought one from my local cook shop
I have a the same cooker and similar problem - mine gets hotter by 50 degrees so I set the temperature 50 degrees lower than needed.
I noticed the problem a few years a go and luckily hasn't got any worse.

SOURCE: I have a GE Profile

i don't think so. the oven's tempt control is ( the clock and it controls both ovens.) there is a sensor in each oven and they tell the clock what is going on it each oven. if both oven are not correct in there tempt you could replace the sensors first and then the clock. now if cost is a factor I would replace the top oven sensor first and see if it corrects the problem . and if so repl the bottom . and if the first sensor does not correct problem then you need the clock.( e o c ..electronic oven control .) this will not be a cheep repair . sensors are 70.20 ea and the clock 201.60 == hope this has helped mm feed back pls . part # of sensor wb23x5340 and clock wb27t10287 //

Hello Ally;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

You may not have a problem. Normally your oven will rise about 40 degrees F. above the set temperature and then shut down, until the oven temperature falls 40 degrees F. below the set temperature, then the oven turns back on.

Your oven temperature is controlled by you oven thermocouple.

You also have a high temperature limit switch, which turns the fan on when you go too far above the set temperature to vent the oven. This may be bad.

How close should the temp control hold the temp

Generally the oven temperature will fluctuate as much as 30 degrees above or below the set temperature. The longer the oven is on, the less the temperature fluctuates. If you measure the highest and lowest temperatures readings with a thermometer after the oven has been preheated at least 20 minutes, you should come up with an average temperature somewhere within about 10 degrees of the set temperature. You can calibrate most ovens up to 35 degrees higher or lower if it is off. Any more than that requires replacing parts.

I have a GE double wall oven model JKP45WOA2WW and the oven will not bake or broil. Pulled one of the elemeents and it had continuity. The upper unit has not worked for some time. The lower oven just...

It is possible that there is a bad relay in the control board. This will shut off the power to your burner elements. The control board has a relay for the bake and broil element and one for the common for both. This is usually the one that goes bad. Unfortunately the board will need to be replaced or repaired. The control board will show temperature rise from the sensor but generally it doesn't show the cool down temp. This again is normal from my experience.

welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If this happens, replace oven

Teperature i snot rising above 100, why?

Assuming your Thermador is electric, and it is only warming up a little, this is usually one of three things:

1. Heating element - with oven power disconnected, check that the elements resistance is in spec. Usually around 20 ohms.

2. Thermistor - this senses the temperature of the oven. Again, check the resistance. Depending on your model, it should be around 1050ohms at room temperature.

3. Electronic Control Board. These can be rebuilt quickly and reliably at www.fixyourboard.com. Some are still available to buy online.

Hope that helps

My GE gas oven temperature goes up and down a lot

The Thermostat on the oven might have to be replaced. This part is usually located behind the knob with the temperature settings. There is always a fluctuation in the temperature(usually 5% before the thermostat cuts the burner of and then back on. Other things can also influence oven temperature, like air drafts(usually caused by unrepaired or construction gaps in the wall on back of the range, but more often its the thermostat that need replacing. The following link can provide you with a further description of how the oven works: http://www.partsquik.com/appliancerepaircenter/Gasrange.htm I think you can also purchase your thermostat at that same site.

We have a double wall oven which is 16 years old. The top oven doesn't heat above 150 and the bottom oven is overheating...the oven said 375 and an oven temperature gauge said 450. Is this fixable or do I...

I have the same issue. Only answer I found was the elements may be burned out. The bottom oven is separate (knobs).Go to GE site and see how to adjust the thermostat (behind a knob).
