I have a Kenmore 417.43142200 front load washer. Purchased the unit used about a year ago. A few days ago I went to dry a washed load and it was still soaking wet. Thought maybe it was just a fluke so I switched to final spin to get rid of some more water but the washer will not spin on high speed. It tumbles and spins at normal speed as normal, just no high speed. What kind of options am I looking at here? I consider myself somewhat handy with these types of things so if I knew what the problem was I would like to try and repair it. Just having a hard time figuring out what the exact culprit is. Any info would be greatly appreciated. We are a family of 6 and wringing clothes out by hand is getting old fast. Thank you.

We had the same problem. It was the door lock. In addition to the regular lock that prohibits you from opening the door while the machine is running, There is a "wax motor" lock. If this lock fails, it won't do the final spin. Think back to your top load washer, it wouldn't spin if you opened the top. The motor is a universal motor that is used on many front load washers. We found the answer by googling "front loader won't spin" - the wax motor costs $12. The wax motor is inside the door switch control. It opens up with a screw driver, be very gentle.
I have exactky the same problem Replaced the drum and now it will not final spin, I touched nothing else. Can't figure what could be wrong, speed board too sensitive?
It worked fine before the bearing went.
Before going further it is important to determine if the machine is reaching full spin. Make sure the unit is set to MAX extract and watch the inner tub. The tub should be spin really fast (1000 rpm's or better) during the final spin. If not you have lost one of the phases on the motor.
The front load washers are supported by springs on the top and shocks on the bottom. More than likely you broke a spring on the top or cracked one of the shock mounts which causes and unbalanced load all the time. Will it go through a spin cycle with no clothes is it?
yes you do have to remove the top off the washer and the washer should come with a mounting kit that must be used when stacking this unit. as far as your filling and draining problem i have had this problem several times before you have to replace your speed control board or sometimes called the speed control unit in the lower right hand corner of your washer
