Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook
You have a very common problem where the power cord has been jerked to one side or the other previously and Cracked the power jack housing on the motherboard. There are 2 options, buy a replacement jack and have it installed, or buy a replacement motherboard and install it. Cost either way is roughly $100. It may be hard finding someone locally who can successfully solder the 7 connections on the jack/motherboard. Replacing the motherboard is about an hour job for anyone familiar with working on a portable system. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins6000/en/sm/sysboard.htm#wp1000473
