Re: Cleaning Registry

I believe the program that you are referring to is called Reg Cleaner. Regedit is a program that part of the Windows Operating system, that program is meant for manual adjustments, these tools below are meant for clearning up and fixing errors in your registry.

How to activate task manager on my pc

It can be done easily by editing the registry. I will try to explain in detail. Follow these steps

1. Check that your PC is virus free. Install Antivirus program if required.
2. Regisry is enabled. Goto run command from start menu OR Press Win key+R and type 'regedit'. It would show up registry.
3. If registry is enabled you can edit it.
4. Open notepad and paste the following four lines

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

6. Choose 'all files' option from 'Save as type'
7. Now you should have a registry editing patch. Please note that its extension is .reg
8. Double click the patch to add it to registry and task manager would be enabled.
9. Alternatively, you can download PROCESS EXPLORER, whichis a replacement of task manager from internet. It works even if the taskmanager is disabled.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further clarification/ help

My internet explorer keeps comint up with a connection error when I try to go to certain websites, (example, I can't seem to figure out why, when I can see the web site on another...

if it worked before, it can be your internet connection. check and make sure you have internet connectivity, then try to delete browsing history. Click the Safety menu at upper-right portion of Internet Explorer, then click Delete Browsing History. Then close and re-open Internet Explorer and try a simple site like to test if it works. If not, click Tools on Internet Explorer, click Internet Options. Go to its Advanced tab and click Reset button, restart your browser and test it again. Hope this would be helpful in your situation. cheers!

My computer is slow and choppy. Is there anything I can do at home to speed it up a little?

depends on what computer you have. you might wanna check one of those reg edit cleaners (be sure not to take a virus though). check if you have enough hardrive space (should always be ~15gb on your main partition). check your startup items, and remove those you dont want to. Check your drivers, if they are up to date (videocard driver ie).
and what always helps @ me, is a complete reinstall of the computer.

btw, what are the spec's of your computeR?

B.A. Regedit

Any of you that do websites and like to open .html and similar files in notepad to edit scripts, this is the coolest windows registry edit ever you can download the zip file with the .reg in it (run it and it automatically adds itself to your registry) or do it manually.

Manually: regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\*\Shell add the key "notepad" it's default value should be "open with notepad" now, under "notepad", add the key "command" it's default value should be (with the quotes) "c:\windows\system32\Notepad.exe" "%1"

ok, exit regedit and go right click on ANY file...
you new option: Open with notepad.

I know this one works on XP and 2000, you can PROBABLY enter it manually on windows 9x, but I have not tested that.

I know maybe not everyone cares... but this was fun for me because I love tweaking my computer and it makes some web design stuff easier for me :D

Dell pc to slow

Yes, you can get (any) help. You must run a Registry Cleaner. It will clean your Windows registry which seems to be having irrelevant entries. You can down load one free from or you can search google for free registry cleaners. I had the same problem and my laptop used to take over 20 mins to boot. I cleaned it with one RC and now it gallops like a new laptop. I do not think that you have any hardware problem.
