The code po341 is camshaft position sensor is faulty, you will need to replace the sensor locate behind cam gear. I would pick up Haynes auto repair book for 20 bucks, it will give you instruction on camshaft tear down and it has pictures, great tools to have if you planing to do your own work, its not easy tasks and on top of that its time consuming. the part will cost ya 47 bucks.

Dude on a 96 jetta you dont have a camshaft sensor the code is generic in most cases that its your knock sensor or O2 sensor to solve your problem it happened to me... some poeple will also tell you about a hall sender or refrance sender there both one its inside your distributor, but its not gonna be the answer to your delama.

Hi, How can I locate my engine code on my 2015 vw golf TDI sportswagen? Thanks

Hi
The engine code on VW's are usually on a white sticker on the side of your timing belt cover (left side of the engine) you might have to slightly lift the main plastic engine cover the code consists of 3 letters and then numbers its the 3 letters that are the engine code I own a UK 2015 VW Golf GTD and that's where I found mine
I hope this helps Nick

'96 VW Golf GL with 2.0 motor. Cold start knock

It sounds like the hydraulic lifters are bleeding down after sitting for a while... there are ball checks which are supposed to prevent this... Try using a good engine flush (a product that frees sticky lifters) and replace the oil with a good synthetic... Hope this helps...;-)
