Remove and reinsert battery.
be sure you pulled the film all the way across the back.
be sure the door latches.
be sure camera is on.
try the rewind button, it may think it has film in it, ready to rewind.
Still no good? film advance motor may be dead. If so, it needs repair. Lucky for you, the Maxxum 50 goes for cheap on Ebay. You can get another at a good price.

We have a Canon A1 that hasn't been used in years. We loaded it and used it a few times yesterday, but now it wont' advance the film, it's stuck. Ideas?

Could it be that it thinks it needs to have the trigger pressed?
The film will not advance past an unexposed frame.
The other possible is that the end of the film has been reached.
Try pressing the release button and rewinding the film.
If you have a dark room available you can always resort to opening the camera.
Excellent camera. Have had one for many years back when film existed.

My shutter got stuck at 14 frames.i wound it back but want to go back to the 14th frame, will this ruin the pictures i have already taken?

Could be that when the load builds up there is friction to jam the film. You must not take chance with the shot film and so try to click with the cap on the rewound portion and if the film is not advancing then it is possible that the camera must be checked with a dummy film to confirm on why the jamming takes place. It can be also due to failure of the loading mechanism

I've got Nikon F65. I cannot load film. The motor which load up the film doesn't move at all. Please help!

I don't know this model but you can try this.Drop the film canister in and pull the film strip out and place on the film advance sprocket.Rotate the sprocket by hand/thumb until film is seated (1 turn). If the auto feed is working you will be OK. 2 other things ,1 of course load film in dark area, 2 check the batteries on the camera first, if they are week your film advance wont work ,Good Luck.

I have a Canon AE-1 SLR camera for my high school photo class and it was working fine but all of a sudden my film advance lever locked and now it wont take any pictures, does anyone know how to fix this?

This may not be the problem, but could it be that you've run out of film. The end of the film is attached to the 35mm film canister. When you run out of film it will prevent the advance level from moving.

Just purchased from an auction. the film advance

The first to check is the battery condition. Press the battery check button on the top cover and see where the meter needle rests in the VF. If the needle is above 5.6, battery is getting weak and it will cause irratic shutter release or no release. It's time to change the battery. If needle is below 5.6, then you have magnet problem or other fault. -James. For further assistance by email, go to www.camerarepairjapan.com

Leica m2 film advance lever is stuck

mandie22,
on this model two strokes are needed to fully advance the film and to set the counter to the next #,
so advance the lever, bring it back and advance again.

Pentax zx 50 35mm slr

Others here have suggested the problem lays with the plastic gear on the advancing motor beside the mirror.

This might cost $100 or so...?

Help, my camera wont take pictures

Did you try pushing the shutter button? It may already be wound. Otherwise, try pushing the rewind button in and holding it while you wind the lever. Now, it MAY be that your at the end of the roll-what does your counter say?
