Your fuel pump has went into retirement, but before we condem it take your fuel cap off and see if it will start, there is a small hole in the fuel cap let will let the tank breath, try that first its cheap,I hope this helps you?

Engine doesn't start and run...just turns over.

take the spark plug out and crank the engine over for 30 seconds to blow out any gas that may be in there. get another or a new spark plug and put it in and try to start it. maybe check compression to see if the valves are working properly. if you have spark and fuel and compression it should.

Still having issues with mower. Took it to John Deere and it ran like a champ. Took it home to mow and it stops after 2 min. I am baffled. I have replaced the spark plug and Coil

You need two things to run a gas engine. Spark and gas. If you had a spark problem, it wouldn't likely die after 2 minutes, so probably gas. Either the carb float is set wrong, or (very possibly) the fuel filter is clogged. (Or something really simply like a crimped gas line). Ps... If it uses an inline gas filter and it's made of plastic, and it's too close to the exhaust, it could melt closed.

I have a john deer 7775 skid steer and the error code f04 comes up, it will start but then turns off almost immediately, any ideas on what this issue may be?

Just read that this code is for a faulty hydraulic pressure switch. Supposed to be located behind right engine panel near hydraulic filter.

Very high likelihood you have fuel line problems. Disconnect primary fuel line from bottom of fuel filter and blow compressed air back up the fuel line to the gas tank. This will clear the line of any trash. Reconnect fuel line to filter. Then remove spark plug and spray a couple of sprays of WD-40 into the cylinder.. Re-install spark plug and then restart. WD-4- will act as a starter fuel and will start the engine for enough rounds to get fuel pump to working to normal run.. Good luck.

My John Deere L-118 tractor will not start. It

I have the same mower and the same situation. I looked at several websites and went out and purchased a new spark plug and fuel filter (app. $17) and the tools to change them. When I got ready to go to work at it, I noticed that the fuel filter was DRY, with not a drop of fuel in the line (in the clear section adjacent to the filter) despite there being plenty of fuel in the tank.

I kept the fuel line intact but pulled it out of its mount (a white or clear plastic C-like clamp and this allowed me to tilt the fuel line a little bit. I then took the cap off the fuel tank, making the wild assumption that maybe there was some kind of air lock occurring. With the fuel tank cap still off, I sat back down on the Yellow Throne, and with the choke lever about 3/4 forward and the throttle level at about half, I turned the key and watched the fuel line. Sure enough, some fuel started trickling through, within about 2 seconds. I turned the engine intermittently, hoping not to drain the battery, and within 5 seconds a lot more fuel began flowing through the fuel line, and then a moment later, BBrrrrraapppp!!, the darned thing started as if it were October again. I put the fuel line back in the white C-clamp, capped the fuel tank, and went inside for dinner (my priorities are straight).

Prior to monkeying with all these maneuvers I had been turning the engine over and over again without a hint of it firing. I presume this is what you're experiencing. Thankfully some manipulation of the existing parts was all that was required and I can return parts and tools which together come to about $30.

Good Luck

My john deere 990 wont start. it's not getting diesel to the engine

Check there is adequate fuel to supply engine. Check there is no damage to fuel lines and that the fuel filter is not plugged. Yours is a Yanmar diesel engine withe an autobleed feature which is supposed to bleed the air out of the system automatically. It may incorporate an electric fuel pump also, but some don't. You can prime the fuel system to the injection pump with the manual lift pump if it is equipped with it. After establishing fuel to the injection pump, loosen the nuts that hold the fuel lines onto the injectors approximately1 1/2 turns. Turn the engine over until you see fuel coming from the injector nuts. Tighten the nuts to 24 inch/lbs of torque, start the engine and run at 1/3 throttle untill it runs smooth.

Lawn tractor shuts off after 20 minutes of running

How old is your ? Sounds like ignition problem,If your engine is older you would have points when the points are bad they can stick together and will result in shutdown after unit cools a little it will restart !
