SOURCE: CF pin

I'm afraid they break most of the time. You can try it though since the repair involves replacing the board that the connector is soldered to, $$$

The card reader on this camera is soldered on the mainboard, therefore it requires professional SMD soldering equipment and skills, sadly, not a DIY job. You either sell it for parts on ebay, or buy a broken one (with a good mainboard) from ebay, and replace the mainboard. That should cost you around £50-60 (far less than a professional repair job)...

Follow this link on disassembling 300D (in case you want to replace the mainboard yourself)...

Good luck!..

SOURCE: Accessing internal memory on the Canon Digital Rebel EOS 300D

There is no internal permanent memory. There is a buffer that holds data momentarily while the data is written to the memory card, but the buffer is flushed after each shot or series of shots. Sorry.

I need to buy a CF PIN CONNECTOR. Do you know where i can buy the part?

Sony like to call this assembly the "MM-076 Board" if it is not soldered directly to the main PCB of the camera. I just checked the service manual and it looks like it is soldered to the PCB, so you will have to unsolder every pin and solder on a new one. Thankfully CF is all the same so this part should work for you:

Hope this helps.

Hi I think your unit has memory card receptance unit bad.( the CF card inserting area pins---bent and shorting), or some of loosen screw moving around and shorting. Mostly it is the pin problem. Your local repair shop would charge around $50 to 195 depend on what they really want to charge. If you are going to repair shop, ask them check your CF card female socket condition.) Thanks and best regard!

Im getting an Error 99 on my EOS-300D Digital Camera when I turn off my YN 465 Speedlite flash gun (still mounted) and then I start shooting manually without the flash. Help please, its a bit annoying, but...

To fix this err99 issue, do the following
1. Turn off the camera. 2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card. 3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes. 4. Insert a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera.
If it appears again, then proceed to next steps 1. Turn off the camera. 2. Insert the CF card. 3. Turn on the camera. 4. Format the CF card in the camera.
If you still get the error you should send your product to canon for servicing.

CF Card not found

Ok here is the issues with the Canon 300D digital Rebel XT model of camera. First issue bent pins or broken pins the CF card reader on this camera is Surface mounted soildered onto the bottom half of the mainboard a large ammount of disasimboly is required. After removing the mainboard next you need is a desolder rework station. to carefully remove the CF card reader from the mainboard one messup and it might be easier to replace the mainboard. Sometimes. next issue is the power issue if you have no bent pins or missing pins, and the battery door is pushing on the door closure switch and the memory card door is pusting on its door closure switch then most likely you issue is 1 of 3 fuses underneath the power switch. these switches are the size of a few grains of salt very very small.I charge 150.00 to change the fuses and 225.00 to replace the CF card reader as long as none of the traces are damaged. if they are damaged the main board would need to be replaced and it is around 250.00 + depending on the parts cost at the time. If your good at soldering go for it. if not then let the experts do it.

Camera does not work when memory card is inserted

I have had this problem, and it was a bad CF card. Are you sure both of them are good? If a computer can read them, maybe try formatting them.

This happens when image data cannot be written/extracted on CF card. Try a card that you know is ok ( works on other cameras ). If problem persists one or more pins in the CF card chamber may be bent or even broken off. Try to straighten but be careful not to damage undamaged pins... but may have to go to an expert for repairs.

Canon Digital rebel Wont turn ON

This happened to me today. The lens drive sounded weird - like off gear. Then it froze and wouldn't turn off without taking out the batteries. Then, it would turn on. Now it's ok. What I did was remove the cf card, lens, regular battery, and the little battery that is also in the battery compartment. I let it all sit while I did other things. When I put it all back together it turned on and I had to set the date but everything worked fine.
