Question about Ovens

1 Answer

The spring in the door of our Delonghi (EO-1258) convection toaster oven has broken one of its' hooks. I tried bending a new hook with the remaining straight end of wire. I opened up the side of the oven, but I can't find where it was originally affixed. Also, is this a standard spring that could be replaced from a hardware store?

The only proper way to proceed is to replace both springs. I recommend that you order two new springs from Delonghi. here is their customer care website http://www.delonghiusa.com/index.php?texts&pid=3

this site has their toll free number, and tons of other information that you may want.

My oven door wont close fully

You may have accidentally moved the clean door lock lever that hooks the door to the lock position.. You could try hooking a string on the lever and pulling it over to allow the door to close, then try unlocking the door on control board. Just a idea, does not sound broken, good luck....

There is no provision made for adjustment of springs,
I'm afraid the only solution is to replace both door springs.
Trust this helps solve your priblem.

Door doesn't close tightly and sometimes the light stays on. Can I tighten the springs?

One of both of the springs are probably off or broken. Slide it out and inspect the hinges and springs which are at the bottom of the door. The springs hook to the hinge and the base of the oven farther back. You may have to remove the side cover.

Oven door spring is either broken or off its hook?

Open the oven door and look in the sides of the oven trim. Probably 4 screws.

Lock for selfcleaning oven did not retract all the way

try setting the self clean letting it lock and then hitting the cancel button. usually take a min or to to see if it will retract itsself. the only other option would be to tap it lightly with a hammer so you can use the oven and replace the latch

Self-cleaning gas oven

Door lock motor has probably failed.....Self clean on many
ovens can be a self destruct mode. Door latch motors, sensor
probes and even the electronic controls can be destroyed by
this operation. On many freestanding stoves the lock motor is located in the right rear (looking from the front) with a long rod connected to the lock. remove the motor and unhook the rod from the motor cam. Sometimes bending a coat hangar into a hook and sliding from the right side into the lock you can unlock the door.

Re:Electric Convection oven does not heat up. Convection fan works, light works.

It is probably and electrical service issue. If this is a North American unit, it uses two electrical circuits to provide power. You must find and reset the breakers and check that the wiring is operating as intended. Less likely: It could also be a manufacturing defect. DeLonghi uses screw compression connections on some products. Sometimes, they don't work well.
