SOURCE: Proform 8.5 ifit treadmill will not start. Power

Hello There, Unfortunately the sound are hearing is caused by a stuck button on your console assembly. When this happens you will be unable to select any buttons due to this condition.
The only fix is to replace the console assembly.
If you go to you can get parts and pricing information.
Get your model number before going there. Should be (PFTL788072) and is located under the walk belt on the lower frame assembly.
Good Luck! Tim

SOURCE: my powertrek treadmill when switched

Typically when this occurs, it is an indication of a short circuit in the motor controller. Please follow the following steps to solve the problem:

First Test
1)Unplug the treadmill from the wall.
2)Remove the motor hood.
3)Unplug the speed wires from the controller. On many controllers, you will have 2 to 3 wires that control speed and many are labeled H, W, and L. If you cannot find the speed wires, do not guess, contact us with your make and model number and we will try to help you with the wiring.
4)Return the treadmill to a usable position once the speed wires are disconnected and plug the treadmill back in.
5)If the treadmill begins to run at full speed, the motor control has failed and requires replacement.
6)If the treadmill does not run at full speed you could have a speed input problem, wiring problem, or another short circuit.

Second Test
1)Unplug your treadmill from the wall.
2)Remove the motor hood.
3)Check and see if your controller has three speed wires labeled H, W, and L or a unified wiring harness labeled H, W, and L from the console. If not, you have a digital controller and full speed upon power up is always a failed controller. No need for further need to replace the controller.

How do i tighten and centre the belt on POWERTREK

If the walking belt is off-center, remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. If the walking belt has shifted to the left, use the hex key to turn the left idler roller bolt clockwise 1/2 of a turn; if the walking belt has shifted to the right, turn the left idler roller bolt counterclockwise 1/2 of a turn. Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt. Plug in the power cord, insert the key, and run the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is centered
