You shouldn't have to, really - also note that some ISPs (internet providers) use a different, secure port. Specific instructions are going to depend somewhat on the model of router, as well.

When am sending mails from outlook express am getting this error"The host 'abcd' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'abcd',...

Hello,

You'll need to go to your email through a browser (gmail.com or whatever you use), go to "Settings" or "Preferences" and the go to SMTP/IMAP Settings. From there it will give you instructions how to setup outlook or any other email client to work.

It seems like your outgoing mail server settings are incorrect, follow the instuctions from the email page and it should fix you up!

Hope this helps!

I GOT INTO THE WRONG AREA, OUTLOOK EXPRESS ON MY PC CAME UP WANTING ME TO ENTER POP3 FOR SEND AND SMYP FOR RECIEVE ON EMAIL STUFF I BELIEVE. SCINCE THEN I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO ACCESS MY EMAIL MY EMAIL...

Do you want to use Outlook Express to access your yahoo mail? It is Web based so you can access it online.

If you want to use Outlook Express then you need to enter the following details for standard Yahoo Mail::

    Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.mail.yahoo.com (port 110)
Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com (port 25)
    For Yahoo Plus:

Yahoo Plus Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 995)

Yahoo Plus Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 465, use authentication)

MY EMAIL ACCOUNT RECEIVES EMAIL, BUT I CANNOT SEND EMAILS. WHEN I ATTEMPT TO SEND, I GET THIS ERROR MESSAGE: ----The server does not support a SSL connection. Account: 'Microsoft Mail Server', Server:...

Hi,
It seems that there is some problem with your settings. Goto account settings-> select the email account -> advanced settings of Outgoing server tab. Removing the check mark present near something like "SSL connection". save it and try again. Also verify other ports and outgoing server address by checking with your email provider.
i hope this is helpful to you

I can't send emails via Hotmail/Outlook express

1.check whther your HTML outgoing mail settings are correct
2.check whther your recipients are HTML capable.
3.Here are some factors that might affect the sending of messages through e-mail clients:
a. You may be using the Incorrect SMTP settings.
b. Your firewall software is blocking your e-mail client or the port for outgoing messages (Port 25) is being blocked by your security software.
c. Your router has a firmware setting to block certain communication ports (specifically port 25).
d. Your ISP has blocked access to port 25.
I also suggest using port 587 instead of port 25. This will help you to get around any blocks set up on port 25.
Moreover, to retain your messages on Hotmail server, check the option to leave a copy of my messages on the server on Outlook Express. For assistance, you can visit this link to contact their support team:

Xerox 6180 MFP port set up problem

I have the solution. I own a Xerox 6180 MFP, and I could not send over port 25. My ISP said they weren't blocking port 25, and my web server wasn't supposed to be blocking port 25, but something in EXIM (that has something to do with email) was blocking it, WHICH CAUSED THE PROBLEM. The solution is:
For your SMTP login name and password don't enter your email address's u/p. Instead enter your website's cPanel (or whatever) u/p. For me it's the same u/p I use to log into www.yadayada.com/controlpanel to control my website. THEN choose "SMTP AUTH (Login)" as the 'email send authentication' type.
I'm still using ports 25 and 110. And I still am entering my SMTP server address as whatever I use (mail.yadayada.com). The only thing I'm really changing is the above. Other than that, follow Xerox's instructions to do it over port 25.
Oh. And for your POP3 server address, in case you don't know, don't enter mail.yadayada.com. For some reason you gotta just enter yadayada.com here (where 'yada' is your domain).

I was having this same problem.

Here's what I did:
Under Tools-->Accounts, select email account and then select Properties-->Servers. At the bottom, check the box "My Server Requires Authentication," and then select Settings. Select "use same settings as my incoming server"

After I did all that, my problem disappeared. Hope that helps you.

No access to port 25 for wireless clients

What happens if you connect one of the wireless machines with an ethernet cable? Any chance you have a Firewall of AV program blocking port 25 on these machines? Have you tried Safe Mode With Networking? I'm sure you realize that is most often caused by the ISP blocking Port 25, but I assume they would have told you so if this was the case.
