Question about Heating & Cooling

Yrly. profits (p) of A/C Co is given by p=x^ + 15x - 100, where x is number of Units produced and sold. How many units must be produced and sold to have a yrly profit of $45,000?

I was able to solve this problem by setting Y=0 and finding X, then plugging in the value for X and making sure it equaled the original Y of $45,000. It balanced and problem solved.

Start with the statement of the problem: 9 is 15% of x, or 9/x = 15/100.

Multiply both sides by 100x:

9/x * 100x = 900 for the left side and 15/100 * 100x = 15x for the right side. This gives: 900 = 15x.

Divide both sides by 15:

900 / 15 = 60 for the left side and 15x / 15 = x for the right side. This gives: 60 = x. Hence the answer is 60.

Not having a serial number on it makes it worth more to a street gang than it does to a collector. I suggest selling it to any would be violent types for a great profit - and since there is no serial, it can't be traced back to you! (except for here, of course).

Why not just blow someone away yourself? If the company can't trace it, nobody else can either!!

If you have Windows Xp, try right-clicking on your screen, click 'Propetries', then click the "Settings" Tab, then there will be a picture of two screens - one has a number 1 on it, and the other has number 2. Click on number 2 and raise the "color quality" from Lowest (8 bit) to Highest (32 bit). Also, take the "Screen resolution" up to about less than half way. Then click "Apply". You will get a prompt asking if you really want to do this, so just hit yes. Your screen should turn on immediately after that.

Ps. After you do this, hit "Identify". There should be a giant number 1 on your computer, and a giant number 2 on your tablet.

Set C = R

This means 16X - 20000 = 14X

Add -16X to both sides

-20000 = -2X

Divide both sides by -2

10000 = X

This means that the break even point is 10000 units.

You need to create subtotals so that it looks like something like this:

Prod/units Amt. Level Total

xxxx 10.00 1

yyyy 20.00 1

30.00

dddd 40.00 2

ffff 30.00 2

70.00

etc.

To do this I would suggest using the Pivot Table feature of Excel. It is not too hard to use but you do have to know what you want and also have to be sure you are getting results as expected. Like any tool, it has to be used right. You can also use sub-total functions supplied in VBA as well in your cells.

If you want to avoid using VBA functions in cell and deal with ranges, etc., use the Pivot Table Wizard.

Also Google "Excel pivot table wizard" to get more.

Good luck!
