Question about Toshiba Satellite M105-S1021 Notebook

1 Answer

I have a Toshiba Laptop M105-S1021. It will freeze at different points of startup. all the way into windows to not past the bios load. I have removed individually one at a time the drive, memory(swapped from a working laptop), wireless card & modem. none of these have helped. I am speculating that it may be the motherboard or maybe the processor but not sure. Can you help?

There is info on the drive I want. The laptop wont boot even into the bios(at times) & I have removed the hard drive to see if it would boot & it still wouldn't. Is there any other suggestions I can try?

for all of you reviewing the post, I had removed every individual item as mentioned in earlier post to no avail. However I did figure out all inputs stop functioning & the hard drive & display continued to work. but with no inputs as in keyboard, touch pad, external mouse or usb,s functioning, I could not navigate or even shut down the computer without holding the power button. I strongly believe it is the mother board but did not buy one to find out. I bought a new laptop instead.

I dont remember my bios password

The only real way to reset a bios password is to pull the cmos battery and let it discharge the saved password while the batter on the laptop is out and unplugged. You would have to take apart your laptop. Out of curiosity why did you need a bios password?

Because it is under warranty the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD.

I have a Toshiba Satellite M105-S1021. When it boots up ask for password. I do not have any password. How can I get in it?

Hi
That would be the BIOS password is open the ram compartment and pull up the plastic sticker or whatever you want to call it between the motherboard and the ram. There is a jumper called "CMOS_CLR1" use a screwdriver to short out the pins and it clears the CMOS.

Cant install two emory modules as can only find one slot!

I hope you have not gave up on your problem. Your Notebook is equipped with two memory module slots. One slot is user accessible ( under the notebook) , the other slot sits beneath the keyboard under a EMI shield (Electromagnetic interference Shield). All it requires is the removal of the panel where the power button is at and two screws that hold in the keyboard. If you are uncertain of performing this task, any local Certified computer shop can perform this in 5 minutes.

if you think you can tackle this task it is not hard and i have detailed photo's if you need them.
