well, it is a sub problem, if you has warranty, use the RMS system, or change the sub. If has internal schematics, you can repair it, yourself, it is a resistant or some boards have a FUSE inside.

On a PC with external speakers and also a headset with microphone. Windows XP is configured so that standard audio are external speakers and standard microphone is the headset. Skype is configured to use the headset for audio in and out.

This way one can listen to sound from the PC and from MP3 players through external speakers and if there is a call to make or take, this is going through the headset.

But now there is the problem that the noise level for the headset is too low. Increasing volume has no effect on the headset, it only affects the external speaker's volume.

Now the solution: Going to the control panel and opening the sound setting, go to the audio tab. The external speakers are selected as default. Just temporarily select the headset and then click on volume just below. You can now set the volume for the headset, click OK and click cancel (!!!) on the sound control dialog box. This way the external speakers remain as default output.



Skype-->Tools -> Options -->Sound Devices-->audio device/USB/etc Audio Device (do NOT use windows default device)
You can also tick the ring pc speaker check box as this is a good backup to alert you even
if the main speakers are off or turned down.

Windows:
Start-->Control panel-->Sound and Audio devices
On the audio tab set the default playback device to your main soundcard(AC97/Audio-chip/add-on-adapter), etc.
Your installed audio device must be present there.
If not, reinstall audio device

My headset stopped playing volume, how do I get it reset?


Try another headset first to isolate the problem. If the other headset is ok then I would check the in line volume control if fitted or it could be the cable is broken at the plug end or the headset end. if the second headset does not work either then check volume levels on phone. does phone speaker work ok. Can also be headset socket on phone worn out ?!

Dynex headset does not shut off sound from desktop when plugged in usb port

Otherwise, I would recommend pursuing replacement options

Using a headset


Check to sound volume level, increase it if required.
Check the mute button has not been selected.
Check Device manager for the audio device, if there a yellow mark against the audio device then the audio driver has not been installed - reinstall the audio driver.

Hi tamjidzaee ,

Please follow the below steps to solve the problem that you have mentioned :-

  1. Check if the sound driver has been installed in your system, you can check this by going in the control panel's sound and audio devices option , if you find all options disabled and it reads no playback devices and no recording devices, then you have no sound driver installed. Therefore in this case you would require to install your sound driver using your motherboard cd.
  2. If you see your sound driver is installed in the audio options of the control panel and you also see the sound driver's name , then you need to check the volume in the volume settings to check if it has not been muted accidentally , if it has been muted , then please un mute it and things should work fine.
  3. A good idea would be use a headset and plug it into your motherboard in the slot where the speakers output is received , mostly the green round slot.
  4. If you have a front head phone option then you can try using it as well, if the headphone or headset works fine, then we are sure about two , things that the driver is installed successfully and there is a sound output from the audio output slots.
  5. Now, when you have checked the sound via headsets then you need to make sure that you are connecting your speakers in the green slot or the same slot which is working for headsets, remember headsets can be used to check the output in the back panel of your cabinet as well as front panel of your cabinet.
  6. Also check if there is any fuse in your speaker which has blown up so that you can replace it and it would start working, check the power cables and confirm they are not properly connected.
If the speakers work fine , then it's all ok , but if they don't you need to replace the speakers by checking them with your friend's pc or any other audio output device.

Hi. I have used a used speaker recently, after using the speaker, I can not use the headset and the speaker are not working anymore, there is no option in control panel (sound) to active the laptop speaker...


I assume you have windows 7

1. Right click on the speaker icon in taskbar and select volume control options.
2. put a check mark on "All devices currently playing sound".
3. Make sure you have "The default communication device unchecked".
4. place a check mark on speakers/headphones
