Double Click on My Computer, then Right Click on the C: Local Drive and select the option to Format. Remember formatting erases everything so I hope you have an operating system disk to reload. Why format?? If your system is bad and you have an operating system disk, then when you reload from it you will get a newly formated disk. But again you'll lose all your docs, music, pictures and any programs you've added since you bought the computer.

It is simple to solve by pressing F8 when booting up and running your computer on safe mode. Safe mode will fix some errors because of some faulty drivers or multiple drivers installed with the same drivers.
After that restart again you computer and then defragment your computer by going to start menu, choose accessories, choose system tool, choose disk defragment. Do it every week and surely will run your computer faster.
Carefully open the screen lid and look at the back of the screen there is a type number [like LTN15ox3] you can then obtain a replacement screen from ebay searching for this type number.
However if the screen only shows a faint dark image the fault could be the screen inverter that powers up the backlight tube in the screen.
