Laptop died suddenly and is not charging

I had my packard bell laptop off charger for about half an hour when it suddenly died. I resumed charging but it won't turn on and the battery lights are off so it is not charging either. Charger appears to be working otherwise.

Take the battery out and discharge the capacitors by holding down the power button for 15 seconds. plug in the charger without the battery in to see if you get a charge light. If you do, replace battery and plug in charger and power on laptop. If this does not work, you may have to pull the cmos battery for 15 minutes and try it again.

Possible failure points. AC adapter cable could have a broken wire between adapter and system (I just had this issue, power was going to adapter, and coming out dc, but not reaching plug)
AC adapter could be putting out some DC power but not enough
Motherboard is bad.
So, try a known good adapter or check the output at the connector to the system with a multimeter. If the adapter is good, take out all removable items, Battery, drives, RAM, wireless cards and external connections, see if anything changes if there is a change, add 1 ram module back, see if system posts, if it does, slowly add items back till fault is found. If no change, replace motherboard

If you already have replaced your battery then you might need a new charger which is not charging your any battery at all.

"Consider replacing your battery"

Modern batteries do talk to the laptops and provide information on health. Ordinarily, this message would mean that your battery is on its way out. If however, it holds its charge then fine, but at some stage you may find that you only get a few minutes use even on a full charge and you will need to find a replacement.

LOL, I didn't know Packard Bell was still making computers. I would think they sold you a bad battery. I've purchased new batteries before that would not charge.

Most laptop batteries die - that is, fail to hold a charge, after a few years use, and have to be replaced. That is the probably the reason for your problem.
