Question about Nikon D90 Digital Camera with 18-105mm lens
Sounds like a severe underexposure. What does the histogram show? Try selecting a [much] slower shutter speed.
Alternatively, does the camera work properly in the other modes? If so, then switch back to manual and set the same shutter speed and aperture to see what happens then.
