Nope, digital is totally different sigle compair to analog, your vcr has to record in digital also. it the same way when one try to transfer movies from vcr to dvd which you cant do it unless you have converter to interpretate it. both has different formats or speak in different languages. hope that make sense to you

Digital TV can use component video and stereo connections to record on analog VCR. Analog VCR needs DTV converter to record digital TV channels. VCR play back use AV channel on TV.

Hi,can I record digital transmissions on my sony slv-se820g vcr barry

You can record a digital TV signal on a VHS VCR but only in analog format. The digital signal must be input to the VCR by some component which has a yellow composite video output and a white audio output such as a digital cable TV box or satellite receiver. For over-the-air digital TV, either the TV must output analog video or you need a DTV converter box connected to the VCR. Bottom line, the digital signal must be converted to analog for the VCR since VHS VCRs generally are analog recorders.

I have a new digital tv in which i use an antenna to watch it. i hooked up the vcr to it but i cant get it to record the tv show i want recorded.

Your VCR most likely does not have a digital TV tuner. Therefore you must supply a digital TV input signal so you can record it. Unless your TV has a composite video output, you would need another box, namely a digital TV tuner/converter which would connect to the VCR's input. Select the channel to record on the tuner/converter and select on the VCR the input where the tuner is connected.

The VCR won't record from a digital terminal.Connection Made according to instructions. Both VCR &digital terminal on channel 03.If the digital terminal is by-passed the recorder works fine.

use scart lead put one end into the digital ( BOX or TV ) out put ( AV1 or AV2) and the other into (AV1) on vcr then change the mode so AV1 shows on vcr display
you can do this by pressing button on remote marked with ( input / source or a picture with a arrow pointing into a tv
you can only record the station that the digital box or tv is on if you turn over vcr will record that station

How do I record a tv program with a Sharp A400 VCR? Videos will play on the tv, but I was not able to get it to record. Thanks.

Your VCR is no longer capable of recording "off air" tv signals. All tv stations are now broadcasting in digital format, your VCR is analog only. You can however get a digital converter box that will receive "off air" digital signals and convert them for recording on your VCR. CLICKING HERE will give you all the information you need to hook up the converter box... Good Luck!

I have a new digital tv but can't get my vcr/dvd player recorder to work. Can I use the converter box on a digital tv? will it work to record and play.

The output connection from the VCR/DVD needs to be different for the new digital TV. Instead of using the RF output from the VCR, use the video and audio outputs and connect them to the video and audio inputs on the digital TV. When you want to watch the VCR, select "video in" on the TV. The digital converter box should be hooked to the input of the VCR so you can record programs off-air.

Vcr hooked to tv and converter box. Will not record digital chann

The vcr has to be set to channel 3 or 4. The converter box has to set to the channel you want to record the show from and left on during the time that the vcr is recording or you will get no recordings.

Wish to record on analog VCR and not affect digital TV reception

I don't think it will affect the digital TV reception, but if you try to use the VCR built-in tuner it is still analog and you won't be able to record digital channels that way. If your digital TV converter has video-out and audio-out connectors, then you can connect those to the corresponding connectors on your VCR to record.
