There is no way to hard reset this chassis TV. All of the settings are stored in an EEPROM chip that is programmed at the factory. There is a service menu to change these values but only some can be changed. The only options that can be changed on this model are CRT screen voltages and yolk alignments.
The only real way to completely reset the this TV is to replace the EEPROM with a new one, it would then have to be realigned and calibrated using the service menu with at least a Volt Meter.
This model chassis is plagued by many problems, usually with IC 301 which is your screen vertical control, it can cause lots of problems. The most common problem is a random shutdown of the set. Sometimes the board just needs to be soldered in that area.
If it's a parental code that needs to be cleared, this can be accomplished by pressing the Volume + button on the remote and the Channel + button on the front of the TV set. This will display the parental code. You will need the Original Remote to do any programming of this TV.
Hi - definitely needs a service call. I believe it is a problem with a specific integrated circuit. Not user servicable. I have the 20 inch version of this set and it was one of their better models, more sophisticated chassis, etc. Might be worth fixing if you like the set.
That is a M134C chassis - one of the most inexpensive (throw-away) chassis ever built and the so-called v-chip is actaully a function of the micro, short for micro controller Ic. It would be less expensive to replace the entire board, RCA p/n# 268733 which is around $70.00 bucks plus shipping, than to replace just the micro.
You can find them available at Vance Baldwin... Just login as guest and enter thr RCA part number above and order it there.
Putting in an entire chassis is a plug-n-play repair...
Hope this helps.
hi there, you can try the front panel switch to unlock it or to turn it on. if still same problem you do have an electronic parts trouble with your unit. check the power supply section of your tv and test some electronic parts. ty
