Question about Sharp LC-32D4U 32 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

1 Answer

No Sound My Sharp LC32D4U has no sound but a good picture. I have had the cable company come out and replace the box, but to no avail. The last couple of times swapping the box or an office reset has workked. Is there a sound card to replace? Thanks, Peter

Great picture, but no sound. Tried resetting the cable card and the TV to no avail.

The sound stopped one night at 4a.m. and I had my Dish rep come out to see if the Sat. receiver was maybe the cause but 2 days later the day he was to come out I turned my tv and Sat. reciever on and my sound was back much to me and my rep's consternation. You can't fix something that seems to be working. Tonight after he left I lost the sound once more at 2:45a.m. I'm stumped. Rebooted Sat. reciever & tried all I could think to w/ the HDTV... Please helppppppppp,... So much for the Super Bowl, lol.ggg

When your turn on your TV, do you hear a faint popping sound from your speakers? If so, the heat sink underneath the audio IC has melted and is shorting the audio circuit. Its a complicated job, suggest contacting your local sharp authorized service center.

Can't get sound on my 60" Sharp Aquos TV. Picture is great, but no sound using TV control or cable box control

Check its speaker/s first. If found good, check and replace damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit, or, replace the sound board as card basis. Gopakumar Gopalan Google

I want to connect my cable box to my newly bought toshiba plasma

Is your cable box HD? It would be best for your tv. You can hook up a couple of ways depending on your receiver and tv in/out capabilities. You will always get best picture if you go directly from your cable box out to tv in. You should have capabilty to go HDMI out and perhaps Component out on your cable box. If you can't get hd receiver from cable company. Anyway, if you use HDMI, hook to HDMI out on receiver to HDMI in on tv. HDMI provides audio and video. You can also go componenet(red, blue, green) out from recevier to in on tv. I personally feel component gives you better picture but , doesn't carry audio. For that you need to get audio using either digital optical or, composite cables. You may have to set your HD on receiver through cable boxes menu. The last option is using composite cables(last choice, poorest picture and sound) yellow(video) and red, white(audio)

I doubt that your component has burned out. You may be looking at a repair issue here even though your unit is only 3 years old IF: you have tried connecting using different inputs, OR if you cannot bring up your sharp menu, or you list of inputs. If you cannot do those following things, you have a SERVICE issue on your hands and unless you purchased and extended warranty with sharp, its useless calling them. They will just tell you tough luck, and refer you to one of their authorized service centers. good luck

Mine was only in Mono and would not switch to Stereo...Well, Local cable company is of of Hi-Def boxes but I thought what if my Digital box is bad/old or has some sort of problem. I went down to comcast cable company switched to a different digitial box..came home, hooked it up and so far no blue audio box, plus now it shows that it's in stereo..good luck

Picture goes off and on...

Most likely your Cathode Ray Tube or CRT is going bad. That model number reflects an older TV. What you are describing is a fairly common problem for that television. If you bump the TV and it improves or gets worse then you know there may be a short.. Either way, I would recommend that you use our Premium Service or use our online resources to find a repair person near you. Good luck.

Call Sharp at 800-237-4277. I explained the problem, told them about the FIXYA website and said that many others were having the same problem. They gave me a case # and said they would have their technical center set up a date to check out the TV and would extend a complimentary warranty.
