Question about Memory Cards & USB Flash Drives
I bought 2 gb of centon pc2-5300 laptop ram from CompUSA yesterday for my toshiba satellite A135 yesterday. Tech said it would clock down to replace the pc2-4200 ram. System worked fine for 4 hrs then crashed. Memory test says contact manufacture of ram. CompUSA is going out of business and won't replace it, Centon tech support is closed.
Is this just my Karma?
Yes that RAM should work fine even at the slower speed.
I have had terrible luck with Centon ram - I don't know why but they seem to have more failed chips than most brands.
If Compusa wont replace it see if they will refund you. Otherwise wait until Centon is open and at least you can warrantee it. See if they can swap for PC2-4200 to make sure of compatibility.
Worse case you can get Crucial (micron) RAM which almost always works at good prices from www.newegg.com or directly from www.crucial.com
