I accidently unplugged my laptop so the battery was drained. When I plugged it back in it shows that the battery is not being charged. The small red light stays on almost continuously (sometimes goes off for about 4 seconds).
Did I ruin my main battery? could it be the CMOS battery?
Thanks
Ron
Well I was also told it is not a good idea to run your battery forever with the battery installed as this will kill the battery

As long as the laptop still works on AC then your battery is probably dead. It is a few years old already so it probably wasnt far from the end of its useful life anyway.
Try not to drain laptop batteries down all the way to zero - Its best to always have some charge in them to extend the life.

In order to use my laptop it must be plugged in. The battery indicator always says "plugged, not charging" no matter what. I guess it is time for a new battery, but I don't know what happened to this one.
