How to cast iTunes movies/TV shows to Chromecast

As a movie ******, most of you will choose to purchase or rent movies and TV episodes from iTunes, one of the most popular online media stores providing hot music, movies, TV shows, etc. However, to iTunes fans' disappointment, iTunes store is not an available channel in Chromecast yet. As is well known, that's because Tunes videos with M4V format purchased and rented are encrypted by Apple's FairPlay DRM technology. In result, iTunes movies are not permitted to play on any other non-Apple devices, such as Chromecast, the most popular media streaming box. Besides, the M4V format of iTunes movies is not a compatible format with Chromecast which supports MP4 and WebM only. However, you don't need to be upset at all. Here in this post we'll introduce an easy solution for you to sync your DRM-protected iTunes videos to Chromecast for watching on HDTV sets.

Part 1. Best Tool to Strip DRM from iTunes Movies/TV Shows

First of all, we need the help of a powerful yet easy-to-use iTunes DRM removal tool with which we can easily and completely remove the DRM protection from iTunes movies and TV episodes. When it comes to a high-performance and all-featured iTunes DRM cracker that preserves 1:1 original quality of the HD movies, DRM M4V Converter for Mac could be the best choice. With this smart DRM removal application for iTunes, you can get rid of DRM protection from any iTunes videos, including the purchased and rented movies, TV shows, iTunes Extras as well as music videos without touching the original video and audio tracks. It keeps the AC3 5.1 audio, CC, audio descriptions, subtitles for the HD 1080P/720P and SD iTunes movies and convert M4V videos to MP4 and other formats supported by Chromecast. It's fully compatible with the latest iTunes as well.

Step 1. Import iTunes M4V Movie Downloads to DRmare

Launch DRmare iTunes to Chromecast Converter and click "Add" button. Then a drop-down menu will appear allowing you choose the iTunes movie content you want to stream to Chromecast from your iTunes library. Click "OK" and the videos will be loaded automatically to the converter. You are also allowed to add the iTunes M4V movies by drag-and-drop.

Step 2. Customize Output Format

To Cast iTunes movies and TV shows to Chromecast, you are suggested to choose the output format as "Lossless MP4" from the profile list. The quality of the output iTunes video will be exactly the same with the original file. All ausio tracks including the AC3 5.1 sound, AD, CC, and subtitles will be retained. Or you can choose HD MP4 which lets you customize the video parameters, including video codec, size, bit rate, frame rate, all according to your own needs.

Step 3. Start to Convert iTunes M4V Videos

Click the "Convert" button in the lower right corner to start converting the iTunes movies to Chromecast compatible MP4. After conversion, you can click the "Converted" panel to find those well converted iTunes videos before casting them to Chromecast.

Part 2. Stream DRM-free iTunes Videos to HDTV via Chromecast

Congratulations, you should have already got the DRM free iTunes videos now. In the following part, let's move to the tutorial of streaming the converted iTunes movies to Chromecast so that you can watch them on your TV.

My laptop doesn't have a HDMI port so I have to connect with two cables...I think ones VGA and the other is audio. This goes into the back of my old smaller tv...which is ok but I'd like to route the

Your TV doesn't have video output on either HDMI or Composite video. (There are a few TVs that do have a video out but often that is only available for some input/output combinations. You would need to check the manual but the PC input is usually not available for the video output.)

You could get a VGA to composite or component video converter and direct the signal to your new TV from your PC. One example of the first converter is here: http://www.cablestogo.com/product/29548 . An example of the VGA to component video is here: https://sewelldirect.com/audio-authority-vga-to-component-pc-to-hdtv-converter.asp . There are other models available. A few VGA to HDMI converters also exist. However, since those need to convert an analog output to digital, they are more expensive.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(A few VGA to composite cables exist. They will not work for your purpose. They are designed to connect projectors with RCA ports and understand the VGA RGB signal to a computer.)

I bought a blueray player that only has HDMI out put but the older TV I have only has component input (red, white & Yellow RCA plugs) and an S-video input plug. Is there a cable that will connect

There are no cables that will do this. You will need a digital HDMI to analog (composite or S-video) converter box. The video output will drop from 1080p to 480i. Here's one option: http://www.gefen.com/kvm/gtv-hdmi-2-compsvidsn.jsp?prod_id=11402 . You will need the HDMI and RCA composite video cables separately. A cheaper version is here: http://www.amazon.com/Portta-Composite-Toslink-Converter-Blue-Ray/dp/B00GH92V8C . This one may need a power adapter purchased separately.

However, HDCP (high definition copy protection) will prevent you from watching some videos with the either of boxes. Most commercial Blue-ray movies have this Digital Rights management feature added to them. Some DVDs may be also have this enabled.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(unfortunately, the HDCP is written to block any viewing of content with analog monitors. You may be better off looking for a new TV or a PC monitor with an HDMI input. The lower end of these do not have speakers so you'd need PC speakers connected to the audio out on the monitor.)

WHAT TYPE OF CABLE DO I NEED TO CONNECT HP NC6400 LAPTOP TO HD TV TO WATCH MOVIE ON TV FROM LAPTOP? VGA TO HDMI CABLE? THANKS

Hi.

The best way is to get a s-video converter to connect your round s-video computer output to your HDMI port on your tv. This is the best you can do according to your laptop connections. You will need a s-video cable, HDMI upscale converter box and HDMI cable.

The other way is to plug a VGA cable to your tv VGA port if you have one.

VGA to HDMI is also possible with a converter. A standard VGA cable with a HDMI plug on the other side will not work because your computer sends out an analog video signal and HDMI is digital only.

Hope it helps!

Tv/digital converter box & vcr-dvd hook-up

I have a vhs and dvd player all in one
I have a converter box hooked up to my tv and vcr , dvd player combined
I can play my movies on the tv. ok.
you have to have your tv and vcr set on channel 3. if that is what your main tv is set up with. Or 4 if you have your tv set up with that.
Mine plays ok. My settings are for channel 3
My suggestion would be to check your hook ups. maybe they are not hooked up correctly
I had to go to www.google.com and did searches to help with hook up.
I can also record station I am watching with vcr on vsh tapes. I do not have a dvd recorder.
I found out that you have to have 2 converter boxes hooked to one tv., in order to record on on station while watching another. I have not tried that, as I don't have 2 converter boxes for one tv. I found that by doing google search also. Good Luck
