I have a IBM ThinkCentre S50 with bad capacitors do you have any ideas why?
It's just a bad run of MT-M: 8086-24U models we have bought.
Our warrenty runs out on these in 2008-04-04 (4TH April 2008), so not sure if I'll need to re-up all warrenties or toss them,LOL.
This has been a common problem not only with IBM but also Dell and other brands. Many times the manufacturers are offering hidden extended warranties that will provide replacement of the motherboards.
Check with IBM and they will probably ship you replcaement boards for all the systems.
Hello there! Torap
Happy Holidays
Well, often, if you got time you can do, as 2bob say, but if you got warranty, use it, you pay for it, it is like having a medical plan, and tell your neigboor that give you some pills, ...so it is very practical to use the warranty no matter the time. another fast way its, buying in some particular cases, a new PC.
good luck
Generally when you talk about capacitors, you're talking about mother boards. If this is what you're saying then I would take it back until they get it right. If you're game enough and you get sick of the poor service then here's the opportunity to virtually make your own new computer but using their parts to get it going. You won't need to replacef the floppy if it has one and the Rom drive will still work. All you need to buy is a motherboard a cpu (which often comes with it's own fan or known as heatsink. This is exactly the reason I started building computers. It took me about 4 hours when I first started, Now I can make one in less than 10 minutes. The instrucktions will tell you how to put it in and the basic layout of the motherboard and where to put each part. Including the existing parts In fact when you take off the side you will be very surprised how very little there is in a computer.Belive me when I say this that it's heaps cheaper to make your own than you think. I'm not sure where you live but it only costs about on the extravagant side depending on what sort of power you'd like but for a reasonably good one including the parts that you already have and where you are but here in Australia it costs about $300 for those parts but I would spen money buying a case as well, that way you can pull the parts from the existing computer and put them in the new case. And this will give you better understanding to how a computer works. IN the instructions it will show you how to wire the computer up as well and how to fit a motherboard and the screws and gold screws (which are called back plate screws here at least) What stumped me was how come the back of the motherboard doesn't match the holes in the back of the tower or case as I called it earlier, That plate which all those holes are comes out and you'll get a matching one that wil fit your motherboard in the package. Other wise your warranty will run out and you'll still be no better off, even though they keep sending it back with the same problems or no response to your calls. It's easier than you think.
