The LED in my motherboard is on, but if i turn on the switch, their is no response. the power connection is correct. but it doesn't work

Try swapping the power button connection with the reset button connection. Then to turn on your computer you will need to press the reset button. If that works you have a faulty power button. Otherwise try using a different PSU. One that you know works. If that doesn't help the motherboard will have to be replaced.

My tower turns on and makes this consistent beeping sound. And nothing shows on the screen.

I believe from my own past that the beeping sound is an over-heating alarm, and that you need to get more fans installed inside. Try taking off the door to your tower, and point a fan in on it and turn off the computer, wait about 5 minutes with the fan set to high to see if that solves your problem. If it doesn't then I suggest you take it in to the shop or wait for some more possible answers on here.

Hope this helps!

Need pin arrangement and voltages for the fan connector on this PCB. Please, if someone have those give a hint.

Use a multimeter. Make sure it is set to dc volts. If it has a voltage scale, set it to the 20 volt scale.

Power up your card in the computer only for a few seconds, while you take the reading. You don't want to make your card's heatsink too hot without the fan going.

When it's powered up, hold a multimeter's probes on the fan's pin header pins(one on each pin), be carefull not to short the two pins together.
The meter will give you the voltage reading.

If you get a positive voltage reading, the red probe will be on the positive pin.
If you get a negative voltage reading, the black probe will be the positive pin.

I believe there is a short in my Antec power supply. Without plugging in the computer, how do I "test"? Do I try another power supply externally, bypassing the illedged "shorted"/bad supply?

If you have another supply around, you can remove the connections from the M/B ( 20 or 24 pin ) and a 4 pin 12 v connector. unplug the peripherals if you want. Carefully plug the new 20 or 24 pin conn from new supply into M/B and the 4 pin 12 v.If fans spin and there's no smell...sucess remove old and plug in new.

If you had been overclocking you may have fried the CPU chip.

You MIGHT try cooling the thing better and for sure blow out any dust occluding the fans.

There is a chance you have a virus that deliberately clobbers the BIOS settings.

System will not start up. Cpu fan spins once, then nothing.

It is more than likely that when your old power supply died a death, it damaged some components on the motherboard. Replace the Motherboard and chip, and you should be back in business. You can pick up some good value bundles to save money on buying the parts seperately. The power supply working again after turning off and on, is because there is a little trip in the power supply that triggers when it detects a fault. Powering down resets that trip allowing it to try and work again.
