I live in a place where electricity comes and goes very often and the only protection i have for the pc is a power voltage stabilizer device. Now, when i try to turn on my shuttle xpc all i get is the fans turning on and nothing else. I get the blue light but no orange light from the hard drive. What can I do??

Most likely the power supply has failed. Remove any PCI expansion card, disconnect power to all drives, all external connections except video, see if the system posts. If you still get no video and just a power light indication, then I'd replace the power supply (Issue will be power supply or Motherboard at this point)
If the system does post, then power off and re-connect items one by one until you find the faulty part and replace it

It is likely that the on & off of power surges and loss corrupted the boot sector on your harddisk.

Try changing the boot order in your system BIOS to make the CD/DVD drive the first bootable drive. If you aren't familiar with changing the BIOS settings, see this article...http://www.wikihow.com/Change-Computer-BIOS-Settings and tab over to the boot settings. Once you're done, insert a Windows CD and see if the computer boots up .If it does, it indicates a bad harddrive.

HI. check the hard drive pin plug that connects to the main power supply unit. make sure it is connected properly. if the connections are correct, this will confirm that the motherboard has failed.

My compaq 610 wont start up. went i connect de charger the powerbutton lights goes on en off.

When the power button blinks do you hear the laptop fans run on full speed? If that happens its because your laptop is overheating and is trying to cool down. It will not turn on until it cools down to protect from damage due to heat.

Use your laptop on a hard surface and dont block its vents with anything. If you want to use it on bed keep it on a laptop cooler or a thick book to allow ventilation.

If laptop doesnt turn on at all, the motherboard might be damaged. Take it to repair shop and check whats wrong.

Put the Windows CD (assuming it's Windows and the PC come with a CD) in the drive, reboot/restart and see if that doesn't give better options.

My sony goes out and then there comes 'protected' on the display

Sounds like its over-heating.

Two things:

1. Unplug and flip upside down and use canned or compressed air and clean it out. Remove chasis if necessary, BUT, do not touch anything with your hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The capacitors inside will hold LLLAAARRRGGGEEE amounts of electricity and can electricute you even while unplugged from an outlet. Just spray it out with the air

If that doesn't work....

2. Place a fan on top of the unit or on the vents. Do your best do keep the device WELL VENTILATED and COOL!

Air flow is key to lifespan of amps.

Your power supply is not woring properly, the short whistling sound was from the fan of your power supply. Maybe its too dirty, try to clean it well and place it back. Maybe it might help you..

How to remove bathroom fan pull switch?it doesnt click

1 turn power off remove appropriate fuse

2 UNSCREW PROTECTIVE CAP

3 screws aqre visible they usually hold 3 wires
black green and red. if they have losts of black wound together it means they are in series with other lighyt switches. Ideally get an electrician in.

anyway unscrew the wires from their holders and attach a new swtch placing wires basck in the same congfig. RED is LIVE Black is RETURN ( Usually) and Green EARTH.

(Sometimes live and return may be blue and brown)

put cover back on replace fuse and turn power on and hope there is no "bang" because you put wires in wrong way

It could be that either your virus protection, or a virus itself is inhibiting the installation from finishing. Try getting a Virus protection program like mcafee, and installing that and see if it works.
