This depends on whether all the water is not being drained out or if additional water is being allowed in. The first thing to check is that the drain line is not kinked or obstructed. I would also suggest running a hot wash cycle with 1/2 cup of vinegar. This will help clean out any sludge build-up in the drain lines. The pump can be checked if this does not cure the problem. Unplug the machine, turn off the water, and remove the hoses from the pump. Use a flashlight to look into the suction port to make sure nothing is clogging the pump, like the occasional stray sock, etc.,and check the pump impeller. Be sure that no blades are missing or broken and that the pump impeller spins freely. If any blades are missing/damaged or if you can't get the impeller to spin freely the pump would be defective. These are some items to consider if the machine is not getting draining all water.
If however, it seems to be removing all the water, but additional water seems to be accumulating after the fact, then check the water inlet valve solenoids. They can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter and checking continuity. A lack of continuity will mean a bad solenoid. These are some things to consider and I am really sorry for your trouble. I hope this helped and best wishes.

Hi! I have a Maytag Neptune front loading washer machine. On a few occasions I have found a small amount of water in the drum before starting my weekly laundry. Today when I went to start my laundry...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

This is symptomatic of a water control valve not closing completely- its no power/fail position is closed.
Whichever it is, hot or cold, needs replacing!

WATER STANDING IN THE DRUM AFTER WASH CYCLE

can you see water in the tub, or do you hear water when you turn the tub? if you hear water when the tub turns, it is not water. the stainless drum has a liquid inside it for balancing loads. if this is the case, there is no problem. but if you see water in the tub that didnt drain, you need to check the pump and the hose from the pump to the outer tub. look for restrictions (coins, tooth pick, nail, ect.). also check the pump impellers to make sure none of them are broke, there are three plastic impellers. if any are broke, replace the pump. hope this helps you. let me know if you have any further questions. shane

Water remain in the machine

the washer has a fluid filled ring around the drum to balance it as it spins, assuming do not actually see or feel water you may be hearing that liquid.

Neptune stackable -water left below the drum after cycle complete

Some water yes. a lot of water no.As long as the water stays below the wash tub you should be OK.
You might want to pull your water pump off and check for a restriction.

Water stays in drum after cycle is complete and odor

I think from what you have said, that you have a pump problem. The water pump on most washers collect all sorts of bits and pieces including small coins. You may be able to clean out the pump if it is not a sealed unit.

Washer won't run through a complete cycle-stops at 29 minutes

There is a service manual behind the control panel it will show you how to test the door locks. If might have a bad lock solenoid.
