HI Bernard,

This sounds to me like the video lead is loose. Could you please try the video lead each end and tighten the locking screws if possible.

Your power/inverter board is in need of an overhaul.
The capacitors are failing and possibly a transistor.
If the screen showed any redness or pink whebn it was working, Then there is a slight chance that one or more of the 4 lightbulbs in the screen was going bad and finally went.
If you take it apart and send me a picture, I may be able to tell by looking at it.

I have more or less the same problem. Mine only stays on for a second though, but it started out like yours. I took it apart and found that the CCFL bulbs at the top of the screen were so poorly put together that they arced out and in the end melted the end of the back panel bulbs off. The monitor only lasted a year and a half and now it's toast unless I can find new back panal bulbs.
If the screen feels excessivly hot around the corners or if you here a snapping noises (arcing) yours is going the same route as mine. If you want to get rid of yours I'll take it.

I was wondering if i can use any monitor with an Emachine computer? my friends monitor went out and i want to replace it for her.

I use a regular 17 inch monitor from 10 years ago with my eMachine that came with a 22" flat screen. It's just a matter of connecting to the correct input and output. You do have to install the correct drivers for the monitor you are using unless it uses the Windows Generic drivers but it will work.

How to connect emachine flat monitor to my computer?

Hello,

It sounds as if you are missing the power cord for the monitor. If the cord did not come with your monitor/PC, you can pick one up at any Radio Shack or electronics store. If you could forward me your eMachine model number as well as the monitor model number, I will see if I can better solve this for you without you having to spend anymore money.

When this PC is connected to the TV, what is the property settings for the videos screen resolution? You may need to bring the resolution to 800x600 or 640x480.

Emachine 15' lcd monitor

Hi,

Your query - "can the monitor work with an older HP computer?"

Normally yes, assuming that there is no hardware fault. The message is an indicator that somehow the settings of the display of the old HP computer does not match that of the Emachine 15' LCD monitor.

Perhaps what you can do is to run the old HP PC in Safe Mode (press F8 before Windows starts), using the arrow keys, select top mode setting in the Menu which is Safe Node, hit enter. Windows should then start and normally should be viewable no matter what settings the monitor can handle. On Safe Mode Windows, right click on any clear area of the desktop, click on properties, Settings tab, move the Screen resolution to the left most position, set the color quality to the lowest possible choice. Click on Advanced button, click on Monitor tab, set Screen Refresh Rate to lowest possibler, OK, OK, reboot.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back if things worked out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards
