Try changing one by one the fuel filters there could be as many as 4 or 5 one in the carb, on the fuel line to the carb on top of the engine, in the fule line on the frame rail, in the gas tank, even the sock covering the pump in the gas tank. secondly it could be the fuel pump or the fuel pressure regulator. a bad pump would cause hard starting ( many cranks befor it turns on) a bad regulator may cause a fluxuation in the idle.
good luck

Vespa et4 125 fuel starvation? Cuts out on me... Help?

Check the main jet is set up correctly. Make sure there is plenty of fuel in the float chamber, if not check the fuel line again. There should be a good amount of petrol flowing from the carb feed pipe with the fuel tap on. It should fill a pint container fairly quickly.

Fuel Starvation or 'Lean-Fuel' Condition for ChainSaw, Blower, Trimmer, 2 Cycle...

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
Chain Saws:
5) check impulse tube and intake boot for cracks or leaks
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
6) replace gaskets/diaphragms
a) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb
b) fuel pump diaphragm goes against the carb body,
then the gasket towards the outside
c) metering gasket goes against the carb body,
and the diaphragm goes towards the outside

Bogs out when i hit throttle

This is fuel starvation, clean/replace the fuel filter in the tank, check the fuel hoses for signs of cracks or fuel leakage, if this fails it may well be dirt in the carb itself, remove the carb, and clean /replace the fuel screen located under the carb pump cover

Model 345 won't start. New fresh gas/oil mix. Cleaned carb with liberal applications of gumout. Removed diaphragm and inspected carb, cleaned what passages I could identify. Cleaned fuel line. The fuel...

There is a vent in the tank, it is situated on the right hand side of the tank, close to where the fuel hose exits the tank, the early vent looks like a round white pellet, the later vent is a white plug with a nipple on the top, the later vent will just pull out with long nose pliers, the early vent has to be extracted useing a self tapping screw, this of course will destroy the vent.

Bike seems to be suffering fuel starvation. Idles ok but cuts out when trying to rev engine. What are likely causes (diaphragm carb)

Yes fuel flow, choke on, dirty air cleaner, bad spark plug, bad coil, although they normally fail completely, plug wire sparking to chassis, timing not advancing (low power), sticky valves.
That is all I can think of right now.

If it revs and then cuts out=flow if it does not tack up(under load) at all carb is . Check for stopped up high speed jets.

Will not start, fuel starvation fuel not getting into venturee, carb and fuel lines have been cleaned. will only start for a few seconds if primed with fuel directly into carb intake.

Try opening the silver container on the carbeuretor. pull out the fuel valve and spring and clean them and put them back in. then hook up the fuel line again and put the cover back on. Also try puting a bigger tube from the tank to the carb.

Motorcycle poor running

Have you checked your fuel floats ,You may be suffering from high speed fuel starvation .try adjusting you floats to allow the maximum fuel into your carbs with out over flowing .You could also check to compression on the cylinders ,you may have a compression problem at high speed ,and this will cause hunting untill your engine gathers momentum and drives through it .
