First, be sure the battery is healthy (have it load tested) and wired correctly (Red to positive(+) and black to negative(-).
Most modern riding mowers have safety circuits in three (3) areas:

The brake must be ON, the blades must be OFF and a BODY (or operator) must be in the seat.

If all the above checks OK then you will need to begin some electrical diagnostics.
Hope this helps.

Blades won't engage on John Deere x540.

I would remove the PTO switch and have a Deere dealer test it. Also on the 500 series the PTO operates through the ignition control module which is under the dash, you can see it when you raise the hood. It is black and about 2" wide x 3" long and 1" thick.

John Deere 345 won't shut off

I would start with either replacing the key switch, or tracing the wires to make sure they are not touching together somewhere, completing the ignition circuit.

The front mount mower has a safety switch on the park brake linkage and the seat belt linkage as well as on under the seat which is for the PTO,The one under the seat on the linkage just behind the battery is a culprit that needs adjusting to get the PTO to engage but it sounds like you need to deal with the seat switch circuit or replace the seat switch.

John Deere 425 AWS no start, no nothing???

Sounds more like a bad starter than a bad coil.

A failing coil usually shows up during hot weather. The engine will start and run fine, then when it heats up, it just dies out. After a few minutes, it cranks again. Then the cycle repeats itself.

The ignition module and coil pack are the same part.

Are you sure full voltage is getting to the starter? There is likely a starter solenoid between the ignition key and the starter. These solenoids can be problematic and prevent the full 12 volts from getting to the battery.
