Question about Acer Aspire 4720 Notebook

Acer crystal eye webcam ''not found''

Called Acer tech support. She had me uninstall the webcam from the device manager and restart the computer. It then automatically 'installed new hardware'. That did not work, (Webcam still ''not found''), and she said ''do you have anything important on your computer you don't want to lose?'' ''Uh....well.....yes, this is my computer...'', ''You must reinstall the computer to factory condition from your restore disks.'' ''Have other users had this problem and there IS NO WAY TO FIX IT, but to wipe out the hard drive?'' ''Yes, that's right, thank you for calling Acer.''

MY camera stopped working, by the way, when my Acer webcam SOFTWARE simply and mysteriously DISAPPEARED. I reinstalled it from a download...

Okay, so after a lot of frustration because I don't know much about computers at all, I think I have it fixed. I went into control panel - programs and features, and selected the camera. Then if you go to change, you can fix it with the previous program. It seems to have worked for me! I wish I could be more specific, but I really was just shooting in the dark. Hope this works for you!

Hello i've uninstalled my acer crystal eye cam for my apsire 1410 11.6" windows 7, 64 bit can u send me the software to install please? regards

I got this info from the Acer website: Hopefully you have the eRecovery program...

How do I restore drivers and applications using eRecovery?
Drivers for Acer products may be found on the Acer product support. Search for the product and download the drivers.
Alternatively, the factory installed drivers and applications can be re-installed by using Acer eRecovery by following these steps:

  1. Click Start, and then All Programs
  2. Click Acer, and then Acer eRecovery Management
  3. You may be prompted to enter or create a password. This password will be required to use eRecovery in the future.
  4. In the next window on the left toolbar, select Restore.
  5. Choose Reinstall Drivers or Applications
  6. Choose Contents
  7. Choose the driver or application you wish to install
  8. On the right, click the Install link and follow the prompts.
  9. The computer may restart when installation is complete. If it does not restart, manually shutdown and restart the computer.
Note: For older Acer products, the Acer eRecovery Management program may not be available.
If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, they may be purchased from our Acer Recovery Media Order Form.

I hope this helps.

I have an ACER Crystal Eye integrated webcam that does not work. Checks of software and driver upgrades state I have the latest version. Check on device manager and webcam error code 10 appears. Solution...

found this solution online
Want to know what worked for me? Acer drivers.

I found this driver: Acer Extensa 5210 Chicony Webcam Driver 5.7

(I have also mirrored the file here.)

Here are the exact steps I took.

1. Downloaded the file.
2. Unzipped it to a folder on my desktop.
3. Ran the "Setup.exe" file in the folder that got unzipped.
4. Went through the installer until it got to the end and then let it restart my computer.
5. Waited for my computer to restart.
6. It popped up something saying it was installing the drivers for my webcam. Waited until it was done.
7. Opened the Control Panel.
8. Opened the Device Manager.
9. Find my webcam under "Imaging Devices". I noticed it was listed as "HP Pavilion Webcam" despite having just installed the Acer drivers.
10. Right-clicked on my webcam and chose "Update Driver Software..."
11. Chose "Browse my computer for driver software"
12. Chose "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
13. Unchecked the "Show compatible hardware" checkbox.
14. Scrolled down to the Chicony manufacturer.
15. Chose the "Acer Crystal Eye webcam.
16. Told it to install anyway when it asked me a question about installing that driver.
17. Waited for the driver to be installed.
18. Noted that my webcam was now listed as an Acer Crystal Eye webcam in Device Manager.

And that was it. It appears to work totally fine now! Again, I have my fingers crossed that it won't suddenly break again, but so far so good.

Forgot to note: This is on a DV6000T running Windows Vista 32-Bit Home Premium.

And here's proof: smile.gif

I took that with Dorgem, an excellent, free, open source webcam application.

Acer AoA150 freezes and won't do anything. I've reinstalled Windows and the same thing happens. What should I do?

I had a similar problem and here is what i did: 1) Start
2) My Computer
3) View System Information
OR 1) + 2) + 3) = Fn + F2
4) Hardware
5) Device Manager
6) Expand: 'Imaging Devices'
7) Right Click: 'Acer Crystal Eye webcam' Select: 'Update Driver'
8) Select: 'No, not this time'
9) Select: 'Install from specific location'
10) Select: 'Don't search, I will choose the driver to install'
11) Select: 'USB Composite Device'
12) Restart the computer (you should be prompted to restart)

NOTE:
After doing this procedure:
Start > My Computer will show 'USB Video Device' under 'Scanners and Cameras'
Expanding 'Imaging Devices' (step# 6) will show 'USB Video Device'

Acer Crystal Eye Webcam will now appear under 'Universal Serial Bus controllers' (the list in 'Device Manager' step# 5)
If you wish to re-enable the Acer Crystal Eye Webcam then follow the procedure from Step 7)

Further Note:
I got my BIOS updated to Version 0.3309 (Acer did it) in the hope that it would fix this StandBy problem but the BIOS update did not fix it.
I then changed the WebCam settings which fixed it.
But, I don't know if it is necessary to have this BIOS update done as well.
Someone else can probably tell you how to flash/update the BIOS yourself, I found it too scary and did not have the proper 'ingredients' anyway wink.gif

Acer Aspire one "The Acer Crystal Eye webcam has not found!"

Go to Device Manager and open up Universal Serial Bus controllers and you should see USB Unknown Device. Right click on the USB Unknown Device and click on Uninstall. Shut down the Aspire One PC. Unplug the power adapter to the PC. Remove the battery at the back of the PC. Wait 1 minute.

Put back the battery. Plug the power adapter. Turn ON the Acer Aspire One pc. It should automatically detect the Acer Webcam and it will be listed in the Imaging Devices at the Device Manager. :) yay

There is a utility bar that you can install that lets you change the default application folder:

** Note ** When the My Pictures or Pictures folder gets full, camera will not work - Cut and Paste all pictures in that
folder to another folder and restart Orbicam program.

If that does not work then do this:

Start - Programs - look for Acer Empowering Technology then Acer E-Recovery - The look at the bottom and you will
"Backup", "Burn disk" and Restore" choose Restore - choose Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab (it will say
extracting) - once extracted - click Install - click Vista or (XP) on the left - click Drivers - click Camera or CCD - on the
right side of the screen, then look for Bison driver or (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) you have then click a phrase that has something like "Install now", follow on screen instructions. Then repeat steps above and instead of driver choose Bison (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) Utility
