SOURCE: Camera has different problems

Ok, these cammeras seem to have a lot of problems. My suggestion is to seriously look on ebay or ecost.com and buy a new cammera to fit your cammera housing but if you are dead set on repairing yours then i would say open up the cammera body and there is a card on the front you need to replace. I would try the large card on the front of the cammera next to the lense first by the vauge description you gave. this seems to control all the processing. you may want to try a couple of simple things first like using a different memory card or replacing the batter inside the cammera. I don't know how a bad battery would effect the cammera operation but it is possible it could cause problems. If this doesn't help then take the cammera appart. REMOVE THE BATTERIES! REMOVE THE MEMORY CARD! THERE IS A CAPACITOR INSIDE THAT WILL SHOCK YOU, DON'T TOUCH THE CIRUIT CARD ON THE FRONT WITH OUT DISCHARGING THIS CAPACITOR!!!!!!!!!!
remove the screw around the outside except for the battery compartment and the retainer screws holding in the screw tripod mount. They can stay in. next lift the bottom of the back cover up and hinge it slightly forward. not too far. then carefully pull the top of the back cover away being careful not to shear off the top plastic snap in pieces or hinge it forward and break them! do not pull it off quickly because there is a ribbon cable holding in the back. Back off the ribbon cable retainer clip and remove the ribbon cable from the socket. This should remove the backing. Next remove the newly exposed screws and remove the ribbon cabble for the shutter switch the same way. then pull off the front cover carefully. let it hang by the micophone wires and what not and you will see the board on the front next to the lense with the capacitor that shocked you... Didn't I tell you to watch out for that! now tell your wife you were shocked incase your heart stops... next discharge the capacitor the rest of the way with a piece of wire. it should be the solder joints with the big re and black wires next to the lense. Then un screw the board and unplug the wires for it. remove the board and look for serial numbers. Look the numbers up on the internet or on ebay and try to find someone who is selling it for cheap. This is nearly impossible to repair and must be replaced. if you cant find a replacement, call olympus and ask for a replacement board. they will then tell you they dont sell them so lie and tell them you are a repair shop or alternately ask to speak to their repair department or a certified repair shop. call them and ask if they have the part and usually they are more helpful. Ask how much it costs and then realize that it is almost the same ammount as buying a new cammera. get mad and look some more on ebay for the part. once you find it... order it, install it, test it, and email me back and let me know if it worked at Lucient_lost@msn.com Also be carefull not to shear off the switch on the botom for the memory card door. It is very fragile. if you do there is a fix for it already on this web sight. I wrote that one too. If you have any more trouble with it email me. if something is unclear, email me and I'll call you.

SOURCE: memory card cannot read by digital camera.

Sounds like you will need to format the memory card. This will permanently erase all the data from the card and then you will be able to use it again. To format the card: Press the Menu button - right arrow to Setup - go to format option- You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear the write protect message and the card can be used again.

Suddenly i can only see the last pictures I've taken and can't access the previous 100's I have on the memory card. How do I find those pictures?

Base from the description of your problem it seems that your memory got corrupted but just to make sure we may need to connect the camera to your computer and check it from there or connect the memory card to a card reader and access it and see if how many photo are there.

If the old photo are there better save those to your computer and then format your memory card from the camera menu.

How do I transfer camera pictures to my computer

You should be able to do this with a cable, usually supplied with the camera. Alternatively, remove the card and stick it in a card reader attached to your computer's USB port,(or firewire). Memory card readers shouldn't cost a fortune. Just remember to GENTLY put the card into the reader so you don't go bending any pins.

How do I download my pics from digital camera to computer

Hi wa143,

Copying pictures from your camera to your computer is very easy. Just follow the steps below so you can download them in no time.

1. Some digital cameras come with a software that helps you copy pictures from your camera to your computer. Install the software on your computer.

2. Connect the camera to your computer using the USB cable.

3. You can also use a memory card and memory card reader. All you have to do is to remove the memory card from your camera and insert it into the memory card reader.

4. Once you have connected the camera to your computer or your memory card card into the memory card reader, your computer will detect the connection and ask what you want to do with the pictures.
--> If you connected your camera with a USB cable, click Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard, and then click OK.
--> If you are using a memory card reader, click Copy pictures to a folder on my computer using Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard, and then click OK.

5. When the Scanner and Camera Wizard appears, click Next. Choose the folder where you want your pictures to be downloaded.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Pictures suddenly won't upload to computer

Hello and welcome to FixYa

Please go to a electronics store and buy a USB card reader. I bought one last week and it cost $0.5 so its cheap as dirt. Then simply remove the card from your camera , pop it into the reader and the pictures will appear on a drive like a flashdrive in your my computer folder.

This is a much better option than using the camera's cable as it is faster , safer , saves on your camera battery and you don't need to install any software or drivers.

The card reader will most likely also still be compatible with any new camera you buy in future.

Once you insert the card into the reader , a storage disk will be created in "my computer". It will look like a flash drive and when you open it , there will be a few folders.

One of these folders will be something like DCMC and inside will be all the pictures on your card. Now just select the pictures you want to copy and copy them to the computer like you would any other file.

Kind Regards
Andrea

Suddenly my laptop can see pictures on my camera but will not import them however the same camera and cable works correctly on my desktop. I've reinstalled the software to no avail.

Hi.

If the software detects the camera but does not import files, then some of the files may be damaged. This will cause the import procedure to stop.
Try using a card reader, like an USB card reader to import the files. Access the Picture folder and copy and paste the file.
Regarding the software problem, try using the camera with a different memory card, or after recovering files format the one you have got. Take new pictures, and test again.

Ensure that camera batteries are fully charged.

If possible test a replacement cable, even if it works on the desktop it can still be part of the trouble.

If the problem is still there, then the last resort is reinstalling the system.

Suddenly unable to transfer photos into Nikon Picture Perfect

How are you transferring the photos? Are you using a cable, or a card reader? If you are using a cable then most likely the cable went bad. I have a D-1 and a D-2, and I never use the firewire cable. I put the CF cards into a card reader. If you are not using a card reader then try that. You can get a decent one from E-Film or from most any computer store.

One more step to try, did you format the card in the camera when you first loaded the card in? On my cameras you need to format that card to have them work with the camera.

My DMC-f27 suddenly quit being recognized by computer

Hi,

First, make sure both ends of the USB cable are firmly connected to the computer and camera.
If no screen pops up asking to select PICTBRIDGE or PC, then there might be a problem with the cable.

I would suggest getting a card reader instead to download pictures. They are many times faster than USB cable, and they aren't too expensive. ($10.00-$70.00).

I recommend this card reader.
