If this is the dispenser cover Remove the dispenser cover by gently prying starting at the bottom going round and round a little at a time to prevent from breaking it. When it's off the screws will be exposed to access the other components. If you have some other protective cover, post again describing it.

Freezer Back Panel

NOTE: Freezer compartment should now be empty and

walls should be clear of anything that will

obstruct removal of back panel.

1. Loosen screws that mount icemaker to freezer

compartment walls.

2. Pull icemaker gently away from wall of compartment.

As you do so, work fill cup free of fill tube. Unplug

icemaker electrical connector and remove icemaker

from unit.

3. (Pull out Drawer only) Loosen and remove screws

that hold 2 basket glides in place at left and right

sides of compartment.

4. If unit has no icemaker pry with flatblade icemaker

connection cover. Remove cover.

5. Remove hex head screws that hold back panel and

Defrost Terminator (Thermostat)

1. Terminator is fastened to evaporator tubing with a

spring clip.

2. Snap terminator off tubing and cut wires to terminator.
3. Remove terminator from unit.

That is word for word.

See parts list diagram here:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5170924&diagram_id=28480593#d28480593

This may help with screws but the defrost thermostat is item 32 and not shown on the diagram. Once you hav ethe access panel off loof fok the thermostat. It will have 2 wires and tough metal clip on it.

My Maytag side by side refrigerator has water coming out of it. From time to time, you can see water on the floor which has come from both the bottom right and left side of the refrigerator. I...

We have the same issue on our Maytag Side by Side - MSD2734GE. Empty the freezer. At the back of the freezer are two panels in the back. It is only necessary to remove 3 screws. The first 2 screws hold on the very bottom panel. Remove the back panels and look at the drain located at the bottom. You will notice a thin piece of metal covering a drain hole. Remove the screw holding the metal in place. Then remove the ice build up around the drain hole.

Water on floor from freezer side of Maytag side by side unit.

Yes I just had that happen to me. An appliance guy came over for my stove and I asked him if he could tell me why I wake up everyday to a puddle. He told me to take the baskets out unscrew the three screws and pull the panel off, then pour some hot water in it and use a turkey baster to blast the drain hole with. It worked. Sears repair man couldn't even figure that out when it was under warranty. Took me 15 minutes. Good Luck

Clogged or frozen condensate drain.

The rear panel inside of the freezer should have screws in the corners. Remove these screws. You can remove the back panel and the evaporator coil and drain should be accessable now. Do not force the panel out. You should be able to remove it fairly easy if it isn`t iced up badly.. If you have any other quistions, please ask. I will help you as much as I can.

Bottom of freezer has water dripping into it

A bad freezer door seal causes condensation that freezes at the bottom of the unit. I realize you said the drip pan was full of ice, but if the drain is clogged, that will happen. If that unit has the pan at the very bottom, condensation can also contribute to this.

Loose freezer door handle

Maytag uses two types of door handle mounts. first look at the bottom side of door handle to see if there are tiny set screws. If there is you might just have to tighten them with an allen wrench. If it doesn't you need to grasp the handle firmly and pull it towards your left, sometimes they can be a little stubburn and require a light wrap with a rubber mallet. This will remove the handle. In this case there will be a clip inside the handle end, check to see if it is bent or if the handle itself is cracked, although I have seen some where the handle mount has become loose and that can be tighted by turning clockwise.

Maytag mfd2561he bottom freezer

I had the same problem. I removed the rear panel of the freezer (4 screws), removed ice maker, and found the evaporator fan that blows cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator was bad. I removed old fan and began calling around for the replacement part. Turns out the original encased fan motor went bad because the motor was encased and condensation caused the motor to go bad. The new motor came with brackets and new unenclosed motor. Took 1 screw driver and about 1-2 hours of work. Make sure power and water is off before working on unit.
