Remove pilot tubing from gas valve and push the pilot knob to verify gas makes it out of the valve. If not, bad gas valve, if you do get gas, replace pilot orifice located in pilot assembly.

My fire place elecric starter won't work after running out of propane

Most likely, you need to "bleed the line". The new propane needs to travel to your fireplace, but you have a huge air pocket in there now since it ran dry. It takes forever for the air to "bleed" out through the tiny orifice of a pilot light, especially if the distance from the fireplace to the tank is far.

Napoleon Fireplace propane Pilot won't light main burner even though gas flows in?

  • I'm going to assume your fireplace has a pilot light.
  • Follow the little holes in the burner that lead to the pilot light.
  • Make sure the pilot flame is pointing directly at the closest burner hole. (adjust if necessary).
  • Often, you will need to sprinkle a layer of "glowing embers" in this area. The embers will help the gas travel to the pilot light and ignite.
  • Always start your propane appliance on "High" never "Low". Cold propane likes to drop to the bottom of the firebox and accumulate until it reaches the pilot (this is called delayed ignition). Keeping it on "high" will help the fuel travel over to the pilot without buildup.

The pilot light should remain "ON" all the time. It is not intended to ever go off, unless you are not going to use the fryer for several months at a time. Then you can just shut off the propane which will shut off the pilot light flame. It does not cost that much to run the pilot light all the time. About one to two dollars a week.

Control valve not working

Lots of time, the pilot light lites and heat up the pin (thermocouple),to tell the gas valve to open and send gas, or the oxygen sensor could be plugged up and needs blowing out ,,,,or the pilot tube could be plugging up and not letting enough gas from the pilot light to shoot past the thermocouple to sense a flame...(.See where i,m going with this?)

Pilot light has no gas coming out, verified gas going into gas valve, but no gas coming out when pilot light button depressed.

Pilot orifice may be clogged. Remove pilot tube and orifice. Blow out orifice with compressed air only and reassemble. Also, control valve may be bad.

your pilot assy is clogged, disassemble the pilot assy completely and inspect the orifice. there should be a tiny pinhole in the end of the orifice, clean well with small wire brush and reassemble, don't forget to clean the thermocouple while you have the assy out.
