My kenmore 417 wahser making too much noise, it looks like the inner tub hitting the outer plastic housing. How can I fix it?

Have you tried moving the clothes around in the drum to balance the drum BEFORE you was them? If that works, you have solved the problem! Most people forget that when cloth gets wet it gets heavy so leaving the clothes unevenly placed in the drum dry will make a real problem when they get wet!

When it spins, the washer makes a loud noise. it rattles. Also when it is doing the rinse cycle I can hear a vibration/rattling noise.

I'm sorry to say that tis is potentially very bad news. the problem you describe is almost certainly because the main bearing on the drum is worn out, allowing the inner drum to "flop about".
To test your bearings, open the door of the machine and by putting a little lifting pressure on the top of the inner drum, attempt to rock the stainless steel inner drum up and down.
The outer drum is mounted on springs and shock absorbers, so it will rock about (and it should do this) but the inner drum should not move up and down in relation to the outer drum. If the bearings are bad enough then symptoms will typically include:
A clonking noise as you lift and release the inner drum (this is the inner drum rattling on its bearings and or hitting the outer drum)
You will have become aware of the spin cycle becoming far noisier recently and possibly even a grinding crunching noise when the machine spins
The drum may feel like something is crunching or stopping you turning it when you spin it by hand with the door open
A leak from under the machine, which you will probably be able to trace to the back of the machine, coming from the centre of the drum. This is the result of the failing bearing allowing water to escape through the seal at the rear

A loud banging noise while spin drieing.

when the bowl is empty check that the drum is not loose that is the inner and outer concentric drums bist be solid in relation to each other. the whole unit will move around though If the inner is loose then you cant use the washer until the bearings and spider are renewed cheers www.appliances.cjb.net

Extremely loud noise when spinning. Sounds like dry bearing

If you have loud noises on spin it is quite possibly bearings.
You may also find that the inner drum becomes loose and may contact and wear the outer drum..
Replacing the bearings and possibly the shaft going through them is quite a big job. Best left to an experienced tech..
Get quotes before getting the job done. Check new prices also...
Good luck....Nomess

Washer making loud noise and wont spin

Check and see if the inner drum is loose and floppy.if it is, it's likely the bearings have collapsed, and require replacement...If the drum feels stiff and tight, it could be that something is jammed between the inner and outer drums. Both situations could be costly...Get quotes....Good luck...Nomess

Loud grinding noise only during the spin cycle.

Try looking at the solution for loud noise during spin with gray water in drain. This also sounds like the bearings on the shaft supporting the stainless steel drum, in the aft half of the outer drum.

Loud spin cycle with SAMSUNG WD J1255 loose bolt???

How old is this machine? Almost all the time this noise its the main bearing. You have a inner and outer drum, the outer drum is suspended on shocks and the inner drum which is only supported by the spindle going thru the bearing on the rear of the outer drum. I have seen many of these wear out. Also I have seen the main bolt on the drum pulley shear off.
