The age old method of starting after a flooding condition is to hold the throttle wide open and continue to pull start until the unit starts however if you are saying as it runs it sounds like it is running out of gas it is probably a dirty carb or there is contaminated gas in the tank clean out the gas tank and as you rev the motor up without the air cleaner on it suddenly hold your finger over the carb intake hole this will stall the motor however it will also draw out possible debree clogging the carb repeat this 2-3 times. also before doing this spray gumout into the carb throat and let sit for 5minutes before performing the aforementioned procedure. I am asking you to do this before having to remove and disassemble and clean the carb which may be necessary if this procedure doesn't solve the problem.

Poulan Pro blower BVM200vs won't start. No spark, changed coil, now I have spark, gas flow good. Tried grounding kill switch to engine & tried removing switch. Do magnets need 2 B indexed to shaft?

The flywheel should have a woodruff key on it, which fits in the groove on the crank shaft. This means the timing is pre set. When setting the timing gap, use a business card between the magnet on the flywheel and the ignition module, tighten them in that position and remove the card.

Is fuel getting into the cylinder and actually wetting the plug.?
Do you have good compression?

The blower will start after you go through the Full choke then it goes dead. Move to half choke. It cranks and runs wide open for 2 -4 seconde and goes dead. Does this over and over. Will not stay running....

Check the following, and then clean or replace:
  • Fuel Filter - Located INSIDE the fuel tank
  • Spark Plug
  • Spark Arrestor - at Muffler
  • Carburetor - May need a rebuild kit

Take off the muffler and you should see the piston and ring..with a small pick push at ring to see if it moves. If no movement, you have carbon buildup from too much oil in fuel. Remove cylinder and carefully try to free the ring.

Poulon pro bvm210vs will not start

This is back to basics, does it have a good spark when the engine is rotated with the plug out? if no replace the plug and try again if yes, does the plug get wet with fuel?if no replace the filter in the tank and try again, if yes is the plug soaked with fuel? if yes check the fuel inlet needle in the carb which maybe causing flooding, if no, is the spark occuring in the correct place, to check this remove the flywheel and check the key has not sheared, if the key is ok, it may be an air leak through a gasket or crank seal.

My weedeater leaf blower never gets up to its' old speed. Runs about 1/2 the power. Tried a new spark plug and air filter. New gas didn't help.

Basics to check:
1) Spark plug - brown or dark brown - OK
- aluminum or silver - piston/cylinder scored
a) is it carbon or fuel fouled
b) is there spark

2) Compression - 125 to 150 psi

3) Muffler remove for inspection
a) exhaust screen clean or plugged
b) inspect cylinder wall/piston as the flywheel is slowly rotated

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
5) replace gaskets/diaphragms
b) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb
