Sound ceased to come (over one day) from my ACER Aspire 4730Z. Instead a message appeared saying "No Audio Output Device is Installed" even though when you go through Device Manager to Sound...

This is a fairly common problem with that Realtek device. What has happened is the driver is corrupt. You need to update the driver, even if your system says it is ok. The best place I have found to get drivers is driveragent.com There is a small yearly fee, but it has sure been worth it for me. If you know which Realtek card you have, you can also try their website at http://218.210.127.131/ or CNET at http://download.cnet.com/Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Codec-Windows-Vista-Windows-7-32-bit/3000-2120_4-10788600.html

Microsoft provides these drivers through Windows Update. However drivers are easily found at http://www.realtek.com/Downloads/ Just select your realtek chipset.

My audio on my pc is not working says no audio output device found i have a hp paVILION A6177C DESKTOP RUNNING WINDOWS VISTA

The problem here why there's no audio device detected on your system , the software or driver for the audio device is not installed on your computer system, so that's what we're going to do.
I will provide you here a link for the direct download of the audio device of your computer, so just download the audio driver and then once done you need to install the software. This is a executable file so once done downloading run the software to automatically install it to your computer and finally restart the computer to complete the installation.

Here is the link for the audio software that you need.

Realtek audio drivers problem

Are you using a "headset" with a microphone attached to it?

Here's something to check:
right click the speaker in your taskbar (bottom right of screen)
Click Adjust Audio Properties..
Click Audio Tab
Look at "Sound Recording" box.. click Volume
Make sure the "select" checkbox is set for the input you're using. (usually Internal MIC or just MIC)
Close window, restart your audio program and you're set to go!

Realtek ac'97 with xp pro

the reason is possibly because the 4600 does not have the Realtek sound chip or sound card, it is probably a soundblaster and that is why the pc crashes as the driver does not match the audio, see the below link for the correct drivers. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_P4_4600&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=
