Please do not use a snake to clean the ducting....it is not strong enough to handle it. It is made from thin pipe or vinyl. You want to get a soft to medium stiffness flue brush if you are going to clean the ducting.

The ducting to the outside is likely clogged, cleaning is best done with a "snake" commonly used for cleaning clogged plumbing. examine intake port if there is one on your dryer.

I have an lg dryer model DLG5966W and the check filter light is on. It takes two cycles to completly dry my clothes. I cleaned the lint filter and still doesnt dry on one cycle. I then removed the filter...

Check your vent. Inspect the dryer venting from the rear of the dryer to the outside vent hood of the home.
If there's a restriction in the vent--the clothing in the dryer takes longer to dry.
When an LG dryer is functioning normally---the time required to dry laundry is determined by the *Sensor* located on the drum side of the lint filter housing and by the main control board.
When laundry is near dry--any Time Remaining on the control panel that is *not* needed will be eliminated---except for the last 6 minutes.
The final 6 minutes of any LG automatic cycle is for cooling down the laundry before the dryer ends the cycle.
If a dryer *counts down* to the last 6 minutes but the laundry is still not dry--the computer will allow the dryer to run until the laundry has dried or defaults (not drying within the additional time allowed).
Dryer vents that are longer than 8 feet with more than (2) 90 degree turns--can affect drying performance.
Setting the DRY LEVEL selector to *Very Dry* will solve most dryability issues. In homes with abnormally long vents--even the longer run time in the *Very Dry* setting is usually not sufficient to dry laundry loads.
Reducing the length of the vent or starting a second cycle becomes necessary to fully dry the clothing.
If a second cycle was started---only the amount of time that is needed to dry laundry will be used before dropping to 6 minutes and then the cycle will end with dry laundry. Bonus:
LG DRYER

Problem:
The dryer has an auto dry feature which never fully dries the clothes so we wind up manually setting the dry time to an hour.
Solution:
LG gas dryers are VERY temperamental in long vent set-ups. If fabric softener sheets are used in the dryer--clean the two stainless steel strips of metal on the lint filter housing with a SCOTCHBRITE PAD--scrub back & forth several times to remove the waxy residue from the fabric softener sheets. Most,if not all manufacturers do *not* recommend using sheets in dryers that have a moisture sensor (electrodes).
However--using a SCOTCHBRITE pad keeps the wax off those sensors which can be seen if looking *into* the dryer drum and at the lint filter housing.
If only *liquid* fabric softener is used in the washer--clean the dryer sensors once a month. Liquid softener also contains wax which can slowly accumulate on the dryer sensors from the laundry washed in the washer.

My dryer is not drying the clothes. It is a self venting dryer and I clean the filter everytime but the clothes are not drying. The filter light keeps flashing and I think the dryer is turning off.

check the out side vent and make sure that it is not blocked with lint also make sure that the ducting is not kinked or has to many curves in it that will hamper the effects of proper drying

Dryer runs, has heat, but wont dry

you need to clean out the dryer.unplug the dryer, remove the vent line,if it's a long run from the back of dryer to theoutside vent i use a leaf blower to clean out the line, make sure the outside vent isn't blocked with anything before you blow out the line.next you have to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into and vac out the inside of dryer where the motor is. do this once a year so you don't have a fire and your clothes will dry on time and less parts will fail on you.let me know how you make out.

Dryer wont run, lights work, timer clicks

what is the model number?there are a couple of things you can check with the little info you sent, check the door switch, push the paddle in and out ,if it doesn't click it's bad, check to see if the belt broke,on some dryers there is a switch down near the pulley,if the belt brakes the dryer won't run,one more thing if your dryer hasn't had a clean out in a long time or if your clothes have been taking a long time to dry check the thermal fuse located on top of the blower wheel housing,if the lint filter is on top the fuse is in the back, take off the vent line, remove the back panel and check the fuse located to the right and down near the bottom of the duct that the lint filter slides into,if the filter is inside then the fuse is in the front the fuse is on top and to the right of the blower wheel housing, also you should clean out the duct that the filter slides into, blow out the vent line, check outside and make sure the flapper is not blocked with anything and vac out the inside of the dryer where the motor is,you need to do this once a year anyway,if you still need help send the model number and let me know what you find, unplug the dryer to clean it and when working on it and remove one of the wires when using your meter

I just cleaned those sensors at the bottom of the filter, it worked like a charm. The dryer is now drying perfectly, I did not know you were not supposed to use fabric sheets with this dryer. Now I know, Thank you for the good information.

the warning does not strictly mean filter only
there is a lint blockage somewhere in the vent system and there is only a single response the dryer knows to make
fan
fan housing
duct
outside vent
could all be sufficiently blocked to set off the warning

Laundry taking too long to dry!

1. Make sure the filter is clean. A clean filter allows for proper air circulation in the dryer.

2. Make sure the rear dryer vent is clean. Move the dryer, unplug it and remove the rear vent hose and clean out any debris from the vent, in the hose and any debris in the outside vent.

Over time, these things get clogged and reduces the air circulation in the dryer, causing it to take longer for the clothes to dry.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!
