Please help me factory reset my dell inspiron 6400 it's won't do it cause it tells me it is in safe mode how do I fix it

Krystal spears,
Below is information to restore your system using PC Restore. If the image is corrupt or you have formatted the hard drive you will have to manually reinstall Windows, Drivers and Software.
PC Restore

Use Dell™ PC Restore to quickly and easily restore a system to the factory image. PC Restore is not meant to replace normal troubleshooting steps. It is meant to be used only as a last resort when troubleshooting a system.
An image of the system is created at the factory and stored on a hidden partition. To start the application, press <Ctrl><F11> when the blue bar with "" is displayed during the boot process. PC Restore only takes a few minutes to restore the operating system.
Using PC Restore removes any software or data files loaded onthe system. Be sure to warn the customer before starting PC Restore.
Thank You,

Dell inspiron mini screen says "bootmgr is missing

You need to reboot the computer using the disk you made from Windows Backup and Restore. Watch your boot screen and look for "boot opions or boot order (words to that effect).

If always super important to create a Windows Startup Disk/Repair disk as soon as you power on your computer and go through the initial setup.

The next most important task is to create recovery disks. The ultimate task for any laptop or desktop computer is to create a system image backup onto an External Hard Drive. Why? Whenever you get infected or experience a major problem you are copy the system image back to your main drive and everything is in the state it was when you made the backup.

Files should be backed up on regular basis and having an External Hard dDrive always plugged into a USB port makes this a very simple task.

The steps required when replacing the hard drive and ensuring that the software is input on the new drive

Gizmo runs a freeware site. It is easy to create an exact drive image.
Choose a program, read carefully the instructions, download, install and run. Ideally, you should backup to the new drive, however it is not possible in a laptop - no connection! Create the image on DVD (making sure you create an additional DVD recovery media to get the image off the image DVD back to the new drive) and then use the DVD to put everything back as original.

Another solution? If you are using Windows 7, it already comes with drive imaging software! Windows Backup can complete the whole process! Leave the program scheduled and it can make regular backups as well.

After you have made a verifyable image backup, you can switch the drives, making sure you disconnect the power and remove the battery first... and do not drop or mishandle the drives!

The screen is blue and will not do anything. I can get into task mananger by doing ctrl*alt*delete but that's it. I have tried shutting it down and restarting but nothing changes.

Use a spare monitor and hook it to the computer, if the same blue screen comes up, the problem is in the computer, from your description the problem is the hard drive. If the spare monitor shows a normal image, then the Dell monitor is suspect. From my experience my money is on your hard drive as the problem and may need replacement.

To take all things out of my com. so i can start over again

Backup your computer to another drive like a USB attached drive. You can also get another hard drive and rebuild the computer with it. Then attach your old hard drive as a slave or USB drive and retrieve any files you need. There is also imaging software like "Acronis true image" that can create an image of your drive that can be used later to retrieve files or restore the computer back to the state it was in when the image was made.

Microsoft lifecam issue

Partitioning software works with REAL Physical hard drives, not with virtual drives. Virtual drives are nonsense and should never be used to store data or images that one considers important. In this case, chances are your webcam selected some portion of your physical memory and called it a virtual hard drive, thus lessening both your computer's physical memory that could be used for other tasks and also making it impossible for you to retrieve your images or data from the virtual drive once the webcam was removed from its USB connection. Before removing the webcam from USB, you should have been advised to back-up your images to the REAL physical hard drive in whatever partitioning scheme you use on your hard drive, i.e. partition C:, D:, E:, etc.
Never but NEVER allow software to make important decisions for you, and Never use a virtual drive for transitory information that is easily corrupted but still considered important by you.
Your explanation was NOT to long, in fact it was the length of explanation that you gave that allowed me to fully address your issue

You're creating Disk images on your Hard Disc Drive.

See where your CD Burning Software stores the images of the Disk and use the appropriate option to burn them onto a blank CD.
