HI no mater the setting, 80% of my photos come out blurry

You've posted here in the camera flash section and the flash will not affect the focus of your images. Check to see if you've got the camera set for auto focus.

Can i use my vivitar 4600 with my nikon d300s?

Yes. You can use the flash in auto or manual mode by setting the camera to manual shutter speed within the x-sync range and then selecting the aperture prescribed by the flash guide number or the displayed automatic f-stop on the flash. The flash can provide auto exposure with the camera in manual mode, but you need to be aware of the amount of ambient light which will not cause any exposure corrections by the camera in this mode. Another alternative is to select Aperture preferred automatic on the camera and the f-stop shown for the auto flash settings. This will allow the camera to vary the shutter speed but may cause long exposures if the camera is not sensitive to real-time flash readings.

Flash zoom function not working

have you checked that the diffuser is pushed fully home in its slot until you hear a click - this diffuser is for close-up work only and dissables the zoom flash

Older Vivitar Flash for new Canon SX10

Not compatible.
Get slave triggers and use them as remote flashes, or buy another film camera.
It seems Vivitar no longer is in the flash business. Get a Sigma or Sunpak digital flash for your SX10

Flash not working properly

Try setting the shutter speed to 60. The 2000 has 3 different modes. 2 auto and 1 manual. In manual mode the flash is at full power. In the 2 auto modes the flash meters the available light and sets the power. There should be a table on the back that tells you what to set the appeture at based on distance and film speed. On the AE-1 you will have to set the shutter and appeture yourself. It won't work auto like a Canon speedlight will.

Vivitar 636AF Flashgun

I do have the same unit that I am currently using on a EOS 10D. It works fine for me. It lso operates on my EOS 350D but does not flash off quite bright enough on this camera in very low light. The unit was previously paired with a canon EOS 5 film. You can contact me at for required information.

Canon Speedlite 430EX zoom issue

You're gonna kick yourself, but here goes, you know that clear plastic wide beam shield on the front, make sure it's fully inserted or else the auto zoom won't work while it's in use, (or the flash thinks it's in use)

I'd like to know if I can use a Vivitar 2800 flash in a Nikon D80 safely. I've been using it, without any problem, but read that maybe this flash can be dangerous to the D80 and I want to be sure. Thanks.

Yeah Rolo, I read that too. I would put a slave unit on your Vivitar, and the Master would be the pop up unit on the camera. Not only will you save risking your camera with the voltage of the flash, but your pictures will be better too. I use Aperture Priority on the camera and AUTO on the Vivitar set to the same aperture
Best regards,

No problem just given a box with a canon camera and a vivitar 2800-d flash

A1 = Auto setting number one
A2 = Auto setting number two
M = Full power output of flash
