Hi,
Here are the steps how you can reset the user / password in your notebook.

1. Reboot
2. Hold apple + s down after you hear the chime.
When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
mount -uw /

    • rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    • shutdown -h now
  1. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and you're good to go again!

SOURCE: how do i bypass macbook air master password without a disk

Maybe the owner's manual might make reference to some sort of reset option. If the password is a simple 4 digit code, then guess it. Most peoples' passwords have something to do with the person who set the password, I.e. a nickname, name of a family pet, anniversary date, etc.

if you or a friend have another Mac, use it to start up the iBook in Firewire mode (hold the T key on the laptop when restarting). You can reinstall the operating system, or try to simply repair the disk with Disk Utility.

I have an iBook G4 and don't have the administrator password. As i don't have the boot CD, i can't upgrade anything... how can i resent the administrator password without the boot CD?

You can reset your password with a few simple steps. 1. You must turn off your computer. 2. Turn your computer back on BUT, right after you here the chime sound you need to press the "command" key and the "s" key simultaneously. 3. This will cause a command prompt to come up instead of your usual desktop. 4. Type the following commands mount -uw/ (press enter) rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone (press enter) shutdown -h now (press enter) 5. After rebooting you will have a new admin account which you can set the settings for under "System Preferences". Delete the old one if you wish.
And there you go! Hope this helped! Please rate my answer if you have the time! :)

Sir i purchace an old ibook g4 but i an not get the password or cd how can i change the admistrative password

In order to change your admin password if you don't know it you will have to re-install your operating system. Without the CD that contains your operating system you'll need to purchase a new one from a near-by Apple Store or order one online. You can order the Snow Leopard operating system from Amazon for about $40 here (a standard 1 user account). Make sure to back up your important files on an external hard drive first though because this will clear your computer's hard drive. Hope this helped!

I don't know the administrator password for my iBook G4

I don't know if this will help much, but you need to get your hands on a copy of either an iBook system disc or a retail Tiger OS disk. (Disclaimer: Please use legal copies.).

With the disc in the drive, restart the machine and hold down C to boot from the disc. There's an option to reset the admin password when booted from the disc. It may be in a menu (top of screen). Reset the admin password and you'll be all set. If you don't have a Tiger disc, you may be able to get one inexpensively from eBay or wherever.

This brings up something I've noticed helping people with problems, most don't know where their system discs are (or never got them). You'll likely need a system disc eventually. Friendly advice: Keep track of them!

My ibook g4 is asking for a master password to login and i forgot it

After the third attempt it should give you a clue - if you set it up to do so.
Just check that there is a password - when it asks next time just click continue. I'm surprised at the number of users that don't have a password!

You can reset the password by starting up the computer from the installation DVD (You have got that haven't you?) and using the reset password utility.

I turn on my mac and only this small folder icon appears in the middle of the screen

The face is probably frowning.  The computer cannot find the operating system.  Use a utility disk to boot up the computer and then use First Aid or Disk Utility to check the disk.  You may have to re-install the operating system.  This can be done without losing your files if done correctly.  Seek help from an Apple repair facility if you are in doubt about how to do it.

Sekondhand G4,no disc,no password.

Try hitting the ENTER key when prompted for the password. Let us assume the seller was kind enough to remove the password before selling the Mac. If you are not in luck, try borrowing a System disk from a friend (most Mac Users are really friendly), and maybe they offer you a copy of the CD/DVD. After booting from the CD, you can reset the password easily.
