Question about HP Compaq Business Notebook NX9010
Usually if you don't have sound you need to check if the sound driver are installed. Go to Start / Control Panel / System / Click Hardware / Device Manager. If you can see there a yellow question mark it means the driver are not installed you need to install.

Tips for a great answer:
you might have to get a portable usb sound card if you mean dont have a sound card installed
control panel sounds and audio,volume,advanced,speakers select appropriate speakers or audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have selected the right speakers also
control panel,administrive tools,computer management,device manager,sound,could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers
