Question about JVC XV-N5SL DVD Player
Not too sure what is happening, but the DVD output is in black and white,i.e no colour, even at the power on state which is normally a blue screen. It has worked perfectly for about 7 years. No one is owning up to altering anything and I have changed SCART leads with no change.
DVDs will play fine, just in B&W, and I cant see anything in the DVD menu which will help.
My television has colour on every other channel, so I dont think it is that.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Look at the back of the DVD player it should have a NTSC & PAL switch ,but remember to switch off the dvd player after you change it over to NTSC or PAL
i hope this will help you

If you had not lost the remote, you would have simply pressed the PAL/NTSC button on the remote and problem would have been solved.
I don't think there is any menu on your DVD player. So, what you can do now is to enter your TV menu, go to picture settings and change it to PAL or AUTO as this might change the it to colored.
Also, you can check the back of the TV for component input. Component comprises of Green, blue and red. The combination of this three is equal to video. Try this connection method if bother the TV and DVD player has this input at their back. This might as well change the color.
Lastly, you can borrow a remote from a family of friend that uses the same DVD player and set it to PAL with the remote.
I hope you understand the above.
