Not sure what you mean by 'are OK'
Open up the machine (pile of screws underneath) and then gently prise the top cover off. You will probably then see the problem which may be a broken plastic post under the button which presses on a switch on the mother board. You will need to carefully glue a replacement plastic spike.

Gateway NV53A 15.6 inch Notebook, touch pad not working

Touchpad settings: right click on the touchpad icon on the Taskbar at the bottom right of the screen. Click on Default button, then Apply, then OK. Re-try. If that doesn't fix, then TouchPad ribbon inside the laptop needs to be replaced.

My Advent 5421 Touchpad Is Not Working!!!

Advent laptop computers are equipped with a touchpad and two buttons that service the function of an external mouse. The touchpad can be turned on or deactivated, depending on the user's preference. It's not difficult to either activate or deactivate it.

Power up the computer. Connect a plug-and-play computer mouse to a free USB port on the laptop. The mouse is just temporary to help you get the touchpad working again. Locate the touchpad icon, which is in the lower right-hand side of the screen. The icon will appear as a gray square or rectangle, with two rectangular buttons underneath. Use the mouse to double-click on the touchpad icon, opening a window on your laptop screen. Inside the touchpad window, click the option labeled "Enable Device". Select other options for the touchpad, such as pointer speed and shape. Click "Apply", then "OK". Disconnect the mouse from the laptop.

How can i activate my mouse sensor???

depending on your laptop this will vary

If the Fn (Function) button at the bottom left of the keyboard is pressed in conjunction with some other key on the keyboard it can result in the disabling of the mouse pad.

To enable your mouse pad on a Windows PC go to the Control Menu.

Under the Printers and Other Hardware option, click on Mouse.

Then, click on the tab on the top of the pop-up menu that says Device Settings.

The touch pad for your computer should come up as a selectable option.

Click on it and you will see the option to enable your device, then click OK

or

Right-click on a blank spot on your desktop. Scroll down, select "Personalize" and then choose "Mouse Pointer."

Click the "Device Settings" tab. Highlight your TouchPad in the "Devices" section. Hit the "Enable" button.

Click the "Apply" button and then click the "OK" button.

or

Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of your computer.

Type "mouse" in the field above the button. Click "Mouse" in the list of items that appear.

Click the "Device Settings" tab. Highlight the touchpad item in the "Devices" list.

Click the "Enable" button. Click the "Apply" button and then the "OK" button.

hope this helps

I've had the acer one for 2 weeks. While using it today, the single and double click functions of the touchpad stopped working. The touchpad still moves the arrow around the screen and the left and right...

Hello cskpuels,

It sounds like the touchpad is working ok but probably needs some setting(s) adjusted. The touchpad settings can be accessed through the windows control panel. But before going to the control panel it's useful to review the touchpad basics for single and double clicking. They are as follows:
•Tap once on the main touchpad for single click.
•Tap twice for double click.
•The lighter the touch, the better the response.
•Tapping harder will not increase the touchpad's responsiveness.

•Opening the Control Panel
The Windows Control Panel can be opened by:
Selecting *Start > Control Panel (on Windows Vista)
- OR -
Start > Run > Type 'Control' and select OK (on Windows XP)
*The Enter key may be used on the keyboard in place of touchpad clicking*

In the Control Panel, do the following:
•Select Mouse [Enter] (Brings up the touchpad properties sheet)
•Look at the Buttons tab in the touchpad properties sheet.
•Adjust the settings and test the touchpad until you get the response you desire.

If this solution is helpful please click 'YES' by 'Was this helpful?' below.

Have a great day,

Mouse touchpad, keyboard, and usb drives will not work

One thing you can try (for the touchpad)

Acer have got a function key to turn it on and iff (i thought mine was broken for a year). Hold the function key, which is located bottom left of keyboard, and then press F7. It should be F7 anyway.

Hope that helps for your touchpad

Touch pad center click button no longer works

Near your clock, you'll usually find an icon for your touch pad (probably synaptics). Open this & select mouse properties, in there look under Device Settings & try the "Reset Devices" icon.

If that don't work, Click start>control panel (classic view)>mouse.
On the Touchpad tab, make sure the 'tapping' box is checked . Click apply, click ok.

If that doesn't work, click start>run, type devmgmt.msc
and click ok.
Click the plus to expand Mice and Other Pointing Devices.
Right click and uninstall any mouse or touchpad listed.
Reboot.
Let Windows rediscover and reinstall the touchpad drivers.

Good Luck!
