RRD-how do i get this repaired. I have the infamous Red Ring of Death (three of four ring segments are red and steady) when powered up. i am in the states and no longer overseas (as my email adress my falsly indicate) and it is an american specification console that i have.

that means you have the infamous red ring of death. just call microsoft and they will get it fixed for you for free.

There are many ways to repair this. Just Google "Red ring of death repair" and you'll find many articles and videos explaining how to do it. It'll be tough, but it's a doable repair. Hope this helps!

As I understand it, the red ring of death warranty is good for 3 years. Follow this link to check this for your console:

There are also independent companies out there who claim the ability to repair this issue if your console is out of warranty. I have not had any dealings with any of them as most rrd problems are fixed during the warranty period. A brief search of this site will find at least one under local repair.

First make sure how many lights are red, red ring of death with light up the player 1,3,and 4 slots. If all 4 are glowing try an av cable (sometimes rrd will look like all 4 are lit but look carefully and often the fourth slot is only reflected light). next log onto http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/registerdevice.aspx?step=repair and enter your console information. If the rrd warranty is still active, they will repair it for free (rrd is warranteed far beyond the normal console warranty, so be sure to try this before opening your console).

Red ring of death is three lights, four is when you don't have the A\V cords plugged in, I believe, you can look on the Xbox website. Just try makiong sure all your cords are plugged correctly, sometimes it comes up three lights when the power cord is incorrectly plugged.

What you have is called the RED RINGS of DEATH. Also known as RRD. If it is still under waranty, I would send it off to Microsoft to have it repaired. If it is not under waranty, you can find people on Craigslist that can repair the RRD for about $40-$50.

Most of the time the RRD come from the inside of your XBox 360 getting too hot. Once your system is repaired I would invest in a cooling fan. About $20 at WalMart.

If this happens 3 times you MUST send your x-box into microsoft so they can fix it.

One red light signifies a major hardware failure or system error[4] , depending on which hardware failure or system error it is depends on how the problem can be fixed but in some cases there is no easy recovery and the console must be repaired or replaced. Two means the console is overheating and must be switched off and left to cool. Three, the infamous 'Red Ring of Death', means a general hardware failure and the console must be sent to Microsoft for repairs. All four red lights simply means that the console cannot detect its AV cable.

If the XBOX 360 is blinking the color RED in three of the four quarter of the ring around the power button, you will have to contact Microsoft for a replacement. This is what is known as "Red Ring of Death." You can find plenty of information on it if you Google it.
