I'm assuming you have a paper filter. If so, take it out to **** up water. The water will ruin the paper filter.Usually they will dry if you put it out to dry but there isn't any reason to keep it in the vac for water. Depending on what you are sucking up with it, if you are indoors especially, monitor the "blowing hole" when you start to make sure it is not throwing dirt out. If what you are sucking is mostly water then it should not do that.

I just washed my rug, how do I get extra water up?

I would recommend using a shop/ wet vac to do that. It's made for sucking up a lot of water from carpet.

My shop vac is not sucking anything only blowing air out of the open hole where the hose should go if I wanted to blow something. I want it to vacuum not blow out. The filter sleeve and dry cloth are...

I just had the same problem, the vac wouldn't suck in. Turned out to be because the filter was WET. It works great when I take the filter off before sucking up water or liquids! Not sure if this applies in your case, but definitely something to keep in mind. : )

My basement is flooding and my 5 gal shop will not **** up the water. It works momentarily and then spits the water back out

You should remove the filter that is inside the vac. This should allow for the vac to **** up the water. But just in case that doesn't do it, here is a link to a site that may contain a free download of your manual:

Just look up your type of vac and click on it.

Good Luck!

Why does my steamvac not suction the water up?

Typically there is a little red filter accessible from the bottom of the cleaner. Lay it down and flip it over to take a look. It's a little screen like filter. Large particles than can possibly cause a clog are filtered out there. Just pull it out (it will only come out part way) and clean the debris from it.

I have a Hoover Steam Vac also. Learned that trick the hard way. If that's not the problem (it usually is) then I will need the model number from your machine. Hopefully they didn't put it on the bottom of the machine where the numbers wear off. That's where mine was.

Ridgid shop vac is not sucking

Check the intake hose for a blockage. Attach the hose to the exhaust outlet and turn the vacuum on. If no extracted air is blowing out of it the hose is totally clogged up

Genie 400PC 16 gal shop vac but can't find filters

If you need paper filters, you can easily use a bag filter cut in half, and have less dust clouds than the original filter. Remember to use the lock ring. Generic ShopVac mini's have the same filter in foam.

Steam vac won't **** water

check to see if the recovery tank lid is on correctly. if this is not on, the machine will not **** up the dirty water from the carpet. all you will get is suction that is chopy when it comes up instead of more like a flow.

Do you have a shop vac . Take the bag out of the shop vac ,and **** up the water . When you are done open your windows and do not walk on the carpet for at least one hour . You want your carpets to dry with the pile standing up. Carpet rake is the best thing to use . Best of luck Ed.

Shop vac sucks water for a few seconds then it spits it back out

Don't use the paper filter for sucking water. It can ruin it. It will still be usable if you just set it out to dry but there is no reason to use it for water in my experience. I have a sears shop vac and it will fill up more than half full without ejecting the water.
