Question about Humidifiers
I'm, unfortunately, pretty clueless as you'll see...
The humidifier is 3.5 years old. I noticed it wasn't running. Opened it up (after unpluggin) and see a filter/frame piece which is caked with dried white build-up.
Is this a replaceable filter which I should purchase, install and then turn back on the system or should I call a technician for service?
First of all the white build up is hard water residue. If you haven't replaced the filter in 3 and a half years you NEED to replace it. They have a safety switch may not be satisfied because of your filter.
