Never heard of them to be for sale in the retail market. Either get one from a discarded panel or buy it from a specialized parts seller/service shop. But i think it would be easier (and probably in the end) cheaper to just buy a new monitor.

if it is a CRT (cathode ray tube) you need a deguassing coil.... they are hard to find... they were mostly used for older TV sets.... you CAN'T degausse a flat screen.

No picture on televesion

I had this problem in my TV.

Objective reasons: tidal processing method. If you can find a picture tube, take it down and use hot hair to remove moisture.

Hardware subjective reasons: this is only for a cathode ray tube.

My advice: If the TV is expensive, then replace another tube. If the TV is in an retirement age, give it a holiday in advance, because the TV than life in the energized dangerous!
Since I am not a telecommunications professional, the above is for reference only.

Northstar Explorer 657 GPS/ Fishfinder Screen went black

It appears that the back-light, a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Tube about 3mm diameter, is not working.
There are two likely causes.
1. Tube has failed.
2. High Voltage supply circuit has failed.

I'm currently pulling my unit apart to determine the cause. I suspect the tube is the problem but I will post more when I have it apart

Does anyone know what the correct operating voltage of this Cold Cathode Fluorescent Tube is? Northstar could not provide me with a service manual.

The screws are 1/16" or similar Allan Screws (about 1.6mm internal between flats). They usually can be undone with a 1/16 Allan Key but some of the screws can't be unscrewed with this key.

I'm having difficulties uploading the photos at the moment but I will try and fix that.

My gateway my3705 screen is dark and i can hardly see anything, i tried turing up the brightness but nothing happens

I suspect either you need to replace the cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) tubes or the inverter. If you have been seeing a pinkish tinge or flickering in the display, the problem is the tubes.

The hardest part of changing the inverter is getting into the display panel without breaking up the trim. The CCFL tubes are usually on the bottom edge of the display panel (look for the other end of the pink and white wires coming from the inverter). Most of the time, you can remove one or two screws and slide the tubes out of the panel along with the metal reflector. Be careful - they are very delicate and contain mercury vapor. If the ends are blackened inside, it's a good bet they are worn out. Replacing the tubes includes requires a high amount of soldering skill - you can't heat the ends for more than 4 seconds when you attach the wires. LCD Parts has the details on their Tech Support Page. If you don't like the looks of the task, they will sell you tubes with the wires already attached.

When i turn on my monitor i waitting about 10minutes to see the panel on. why? thanks

The most likely problem would be starting the cold-cathode backlight tubes- which are basically flourescent bulbs.... if the monitor is very old, this is to be expected...one of the drawbacks of this type of backlighting. Your picture is actually there, you just cannot see it until the lights start.

You can get the tubes replaced by a good repair shop, but IMHO it is not worth the expense... you would be better off with a new monitor. The new "LED" monitors use bright white LED's for backlighting (do not let the hype fool you- they are still LCD monitors, they just use LED's for lighting the screen!) and last thousands of hours longer than the cold-cathode light tubes.

Vizio television screen flickers like a strobe light

lcd sets use florescent tubes to light the display and, a ballast to power the tubes just like the lights in an office ceiling.
the tubes are called cold cathodes and, the ballasts are called inverter boards. replace your inverter circuit board it connects by wires to the cold cathodes so; isn't hard to find.

Screen gets hot and turns black on the bottom right

There are many causes of this. On cause can be the Cold cathode fluorescent
tube itself. This is a grossly misnamed device as the cathodes get very hot
indeed. One of the tube failure modes as they wear out is that the cathodes
can get much hotter than normal, and this affects the screen near it.

Whers the crt and the deflection yolk coil at

The CRT is the Cathode Ray Tube, it is the complete internal screen assy for your old style monitor or television.

On the rear neck of the tube is a large set of coils which makes the tube work.

It controls screen size , positioning and shape

To set it up you need a lot of experience and a signal generator

I have sound but no picture all of a sudden. We've had the tv for about 5 years. this is the first problem we've ever had.

check your fuses first
These tv's have one or, two small fluoresent tubes called cold cathodes that light up your tv the power supply for these cold cathodes in known as an inverter it changes TV powersupply voltage to power these cathodes can use since both tubes went dark together I would check my inverter it is easiy to find as it is wired ti the cold cathodes

I moved my tv to a friends house while i moved. we turned it on without leaving it get to room temp. think i blew a picture tube how do i detect this and how much is it to be replaced and also what parts...

picture tubes do not "blow" go bad by going dark check your circuit board for fuses test them and, replace the bad ones as your high voltage circuit is what lights up your tv tube... tv tubes do go bad when they do they show "blooming" and, bad ion masking not a black screen unless the tv is a newer lcd / plasma screen then just replace the inverter board or, cold cathode
