There will be a series of pin headers on the edge of the board. They are almost always labelled PWR but if you haven't disconnected all the others (HD indicator, speaker, etc) it should be obvious where it fits.

You will plug it any pair of pins repeatedly.and swith on the system each and every time pluged in.when the system getting on,then you found the correct on/off pin of that mother board. Dont worry connecting wrongly in pin connecting. nothing wrong to be happend. But switch on and off with in 10 seconds.

I'm planning to upgrade my desktop and i want to start upgrading from cpu. My current motherboard is Asus P5S-MX SE and cpu is Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor E2160, 1.8Ghz. Can you give me a list of...

Oh boy, you're in the same boat i'm in with my dad's HP asus based OEM board. You're max choice in a regular core 2 duo is the E6700 @ 2.66ghz with a 1066 FSB (Front side bus). Reason being is likely identical to my situation. The board likely only supports a "conroe" core. It can't handle the "WOLFDALE", otherwise they would list higher ghz for an E6700. The E6700 is also available as a 3.2ghz with 1066mhz FSB, but its based on 45nm process, which requires different power regulation from the board. if you were to put in the wrong chip, you get nada. Not even POST errors from what i've read where others have tried and failed.
Unfortunately, E6700 @ 2.66ghz are a little rare, but they are on ebay for about 80-100 bucks, and various other places. Search for "E6700", but be careful to avoid the 3.2ghz's.
The only other choice for max is the Core 2 Extreme X6800 @ 2.93 ghz. This processor looks like its about double the cost to the E6700 though. That's a lot of extra money to get only .27 gain in ghz though, IMO, though there could be other reasons to go extreme, like availability. There might be more of them! The same logic applies here. Stay with the 65nm process, and 1066 FSB.

Here is the tech spec page for your board. Its shows all the supported processors: http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=fLSzpcTDJYT0rgS6&content=specifications
You might want to choose carefully on whether to upgrade this board's CPU. Might be time to scrap the whole board and get something with more FSB capabilities.
Good luck!

I have a gateway MSII have a gateway MSI Ms-7399 mother board. I have an E6300 pentium dual core processor at 2.8 with a FSB at 1066,in it and it works fine. I want to know what the specs on the board are...

The board is maxed out at 1066 and it does not appear that gateway has a BIOS update to allow for the higher FSB reuired with the faster Intel chips. If you installed one of these newer LGA 775 chips into your computer it may work but would be a lot slower than what it is rated due to the chips multiplier would be set for 1333. I could not see any BIOS updates from gateway for this board. Also these chips are designed to run with the faster memory and the 800mhz memory speed would also be a bottle neck for your system.

I am tryin to upgrade my processor on my 4000783 gateway motherboard need to change my fsb speed and dont know how

You cannot change your fsb. You need to upgrade to a cpu with a fsb speed that your board can support. Once you install the new cpu your bios will set the fsb to the higher setting of your new cpu if your board supports it. If you have your board specs it will tell you something like supports fsb 1066/800. That would mean you could upgrade to a supported 1066 fsb cpu. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

1333 FSB processor ( E6850 ) on a 1066 FSB motherboard, DDR2 667 memory

Hi proenza. you're making good sence! You're D945GCL MB should be able to run 1066 FSB. Not 100% sure you're memory will keep FSB up to 1066.
Here's the trouble though. The Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 will not run on the Intel D945GCL motherboard because it is not supported. Look here at Intel's web site. Supported CPU's.
http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?Boardname=d945gcl

Intel E6850 specs sheet. http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Intel-Intel-Core-2-Duo-E6850-Processor-3-0GHz-4MB-Cache-1333MHz-FSB-Conroe-Dual-Core-OEM-Socket-77

Intel E6700 spec sheet. http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Intel-Core-2-Duo-E6700-2-67Ghz

This CPU is supported by the D945GCL MB.
http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?Boardname=d945gcl

Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 Processor BX80557E4700 - 2.60GHz.
$149.99

In order to get 1066MHz (CPU can run at), you'll also need the memory support at 800MHz. The D945GCL MB can only run DDR2-667MHz.
Many people buy a CPU to run MB's specs (1333MHz) just to find the same MB does not support DDR2-1066MHz or DDR2-800MHz. Motherboard Mfg's are lagging. DDR3-1333MHz is out there now to support the 1333 MHz CPU FSB.

I hope this has helped you make a decision proenza.

Good Luck!

P5rd1 vm

The P5rd1 motherboard supports celeron's using a LGA775 socket. You can use a 2.0 celeron but you need to get the correct one such as:

Intel 440 Celeron 2.0ghz box cpu , 65nm conroe-L , Lga775 , 800mhz fsb - 64k L1+ 512k L2 cache

good luck!

Wont post with 1333 fsb

This board wont take a 1333 cpu. The fastest it will run is 1066

This motherboard supports the latest Intel® Pentium / Celeron CPU in LGA775 package with 1066/ 800/ 533MHz FSB, Hyper-Threading Technology and core-speeds up to 3.8GHz and beyond.
Make sure your RAM is DDR2 800mhz
The Pentium D830 runs at 800fsb which is in line with the board capabilities.
