Tip

Cleaning Print heads when all else fails

The nice thing about this printer is that it can use the cheap aftermarket ink. The problem is, this ink can sometimes cause the print heads to not clean properly. The tip that works to fix a baldly clogged print head is to remove the print head, and spray and soak it in "Simple Green" for at least 3 hours. Then use compressed air to force the "Simple Green" through the heads from the screens in the ink wells, to the print head. Then use the air from the print heads, you will see foaming by each print screen. Be carefull not to lose the small rubber inserts around the print screen. Rince the print head with clear water and repeat the compressed air until dry. Replace, and put the ink cartriges back in, and bingo, your printer will work like new again!

Hi, just trying to solve a problem with Canon Pixma iP6000D printer. For some reason it does not print the black ink but all the other colours??? Any help? Tks Mark

make sure that there was still black ink on your the printer.

Clean the print head if you suspect that the nozzles might be clogged.
  • Cleaning the print head consumes ink, so perform print head cleaning only when necessary.

First you need to check that the printer has the same problem with a new cartridge, otherwise may be a cartridge problem. After this try doing a nozzle cleanup. You will find the option on printer properties in control panel, or opening canon software from start menu. If after this you still have the problem then you should open the printer and clean the waste ink well and printer head.
